First collection is fine, just things to collect around Caledon and other areas with Hyleks, second collection was a huge goldsink and the last two were more collecting things around the world but mostly from meta event bosses, Chak Gerent was a pain as you would have guessed.
The rest was mostly farming HoT maps for materials, which was pretty easy and smooth, just need a lot of tokens.

Arenanet has no sense of scale, so a GS and a single handed weapon cost almost the same amount of materials (the hilt on a 1H weapon requires 1 less plank/ingot). So it's always cheaper to craft a 2H weapon like a GS than it will be to craft a pair of weapons.
