I don't think DD's world was "small" so much as it was very corridor-heavy. There weren't many open fields at all.
And yeah, a DW with the player acting as a mercenary Bladestorm-style is one of my dream games, I doubt it'll happen anytime soon though.
If we're talking an open world game, how about what Banjo-Tooie did and have a huge hub with every level/stage connecting to it, and secret routes leading to other stages. That was the one thing I loved about that game, and I think other games need to follow its example.

That project got backlashed and forced to shut down because the project leader tried to sale it to the public without notifying Zun, Touhou's creator, and pretty much ignore the rules of making fan games.
Ufotable once managed to make a collaborated anime with Touhou, but for some reasons it wasn't considered unofficial, and was banned for distributing. I don't know why though.

The 3DS games are more like traditional belt-scrolling beat 'em ups. The Versus games do use a base combo system similar to the charge system, with a few extra gimmicks. It's not Basara level, and I have complaints about the aerial rave system being too on-rails, but it's pretty fun still. Wish I had the money to import EV.

Yeah, if you only have fortresses (or one single fortress) you better also have a strong clan nearby and become their vassal, you don't have much choice if you don't want to get raped.
It's pretty much the same with all minor clans (although the speed at which you build up a decent force varies a lot depending on your officers skills), you struggle for the first years trying to get allies and resources, and become a landslide once you've done it.
The only problem is that if you take too long doing it you'll end up meeting some huge clan who has swallowed half Japan throwing endless waves of AAA officers against you.
Some few days ago I've finished a run with the Amago, Birth of Nobunaga scenario, AI and Aggression levels set on maximum and moral loss and damage and recovery rate at minimum for everyone.
I thought it would have slow down the progress for everyone (I had to raze everything move on), but I guess the Imagawa relied on their officers abilities to take castles like candies.
After years fighting in the same area and facing all the best Oda, Takeda, Matsudaira and Imagawa generals united I've said fuck it, made pace, turned into the other direction and gobbled up my allies.

Yes and no. Yes because you legitimately get a lot of content and its worth it to have the complete game. Definitely rec'd if you want moar Lu Bu and Lu Waifu, or if you're a dedicated fan of DW8.

I got it for PS3, and admit that DW8: CE is definitely the better deal if you don't already own DW8. I don't know if it's my PS3 or a wider issue, but my PS3 didn't save the mixjoy data for even a day. Maybe it's because I powered the PS3 off instead of just letting it hibernate/go to sleep.

It's a xinput problem as in SW4-2 only accepts d-input. I had some xbox360 controller tool (forgot name), but it didn't work so I just had to deal with my triggers controlling the camera horizontally only. The steam forums probably has some topics on it.

Most of the time that kind of thing is driver-related. Certain drivers will work, some will have issues like that. For reference, I use a PS3 pad with Xinput Wrapper for PS3 and all the Musou games on PC have automatically mapped everything correctly.

It might be a specific case for me, I don't know. Maybe the game picks up the generic drivers for the PS3 pad instead of the Xinput drivers, that's the only guess I have.
