An idea would be that Frisk has lost their ability to save and reset because another more warped person has taken control of the dismal world and now they have to find a way to get it back so they can fix it all.

I just realized one thing
Toriel let 6 children die. She didn't follow them after letting them into the underground, she didn't attempt to save them from Asgore. She was never seen after leaving Asgore (which would have been between Chara's death and the first human Asgore kills), which means she never tried to change his mind a second time.
But when Frisk comes - Frisk being the last human that was needed in order to break the barrier - THEN she actually follows them in order to save them? Right when Asgore's awful actions may have had some positive outcome, she goes out of her way to prevent that from happening?
What was so amazing about Frisk that they just *couldn't* be killed? Were they the only child to ever to a Pacifist run, and everyone before was a murderer? (and therefore, why the fuck does it matter if Asgore killed them?) Why did Toriel let 6 children die, and then went out of their way to save the last just so that all the previous deaths would have been completely useless?

I think both have their places. I don't mind an ending that leaves a lot of things open. I don't think Undertale is the kind of game where that works though, since a big part of the game is saving, loading, and resetting to get the best possible ending for everyone.

Well, that is kind of the case for Flowey/Asriel, so it's not an idea disconnected to Undertale.
But in general, I think one of the big things you're supposed to be working toward with the universes mechanics is finding a happy ending for everyone. And the whole tone of the game is kind of tailored to a more saccharine conclusion than something bittersweet, unless you're doing a genocide run.

I mean, it's a spin-off right? We've all done the whole 'defeat the big baddy at the end' thing and then everyone's happy. My idea would be the whole team trying to cope with the new hellish enviroment. No "the true big villain' instead, the story will be mostly of their hardship trying to deal with the new harsh landscape.

To make the point of having to let things go sometimes. It's the same reason Flowey pops up when you start the game after a true pacifist ending and tries to tell you to let them go instead of tearing them away from their lives to try and find new things to do or get a different ending.
For how saccharine the pacifist ending is, it does have some bittersweet points. Like Asgore never really gets any resolution, and though we see some cuts of monster's lives, we don't know entirely what's going on. Which I think is intentional, to let people who play form their own conclusions based on what they want from the experience.

You can tell from the way Papyrus talks after the Alphys date about going to the lab that Flowey is the one giving him suggestions on what to tell you. Papyrus also was the one who suggested Undyne have you give the letter to Alphys, which could have been at Flowey's suggestions. Then there's the note in the trash can in Alphys's lab that says 'I KNOW WHAT YOU DID' is also from Flowey, to push Alphys into showing you the truth and cement your friendship.

I'd agree with this as someone with Alphys as one of their top faves. She's written in a realistic way which contrasts harshly against more straightforward positive personalities like Undyne or Papyrus. She's intentionally not likable because she doesn't like herself or think she deserves to be liked. Though I found some of her self-loathing bullshit endearing and cute personally.
