Since the j-8c is not elite, it's not worth it. I don't remember the loadout of the j-5 and j-811b but they're certainly not as good as guided bombs, atgm and 1mg bombs.
>>
>>123290869
>why would it be a problem to bring them in a helo?
Li Jian are anti-infantry specialists. You bring them when you want to murder nontrivial amounts of infantry. This usually means enemy entrenched positions, and helos are terrible at bringing infantry to fronts with even minimal AA, which an entrenched position will have.

Helo infantry is used for seizing positions at the start of the game, for reinforcing pushes behind enemy lines, or for quick reaction defense. Li Jian 90 are unsuitable for all of these because they lack an RPG.
>>
>>123290869
>zbd-86
>>
>>123292425
How does one go about taking out anti-infantry specialists?
>>
>>123292602
Drive a transport or tank into them, they don't have an RPG so they can't deal with vehicles effectively. That's why they're not useful for taking cities at the start of the game or panic defense, there's no point dropping them into a city if the enemy will just drive through and murder them with no risk to his vehicles or even a need to stop.

saperzy, they were beastly before the sturm buff, and while they cost a bit more, that 10hp is big
>>
>>123305993
>>123306573
Saperzy work better alone, sturms work better supporting moto spam. Microed sturms can go into an engagament, destroy a comparatively expensive SF squad, then retreat for reload while the motoshutzen play meatshield. Also a slight benefit of the sturms over saperzy is that their HE rockets can stun and scare off transports that would normally be free to just mow them down.
>>
>>123307341
Actually another reason I was voting for the flamethrowers is that they tend to do better vs transports, trying to chase them with transports usually ends up in chainstun and getting stuck in the napalm.

Anti-tank weaponry won't be very helpful against irregular Kurdish militias that don't have a lot of those.

Another DCS concern. I was flying the SU-27 and tried pressing the S key to disable ACS but it didn't work. It's like it wasn't detecting the key at all, so I went into the menu, and checked my keyboard mapping, and sure enough, "S' was set up to disable ACS. So why isn't it working? Now that I think about it, a lot of the key commands that I've tried to use haven't worked. Has anybody else experienced this issue?

I think I just hit functionally complete with my multiplayer IL-2 inspired game mode. I think everything that's left is polishing up the display text so it's more interesting and informative, as well as finding bugs.

At the mission start, each zone now tallies up the units that are in that zone. Whenever a ground unit is destroyed, it deducts one from whatever zone it was in. With this you can now check and display the status of that zone. If everything is destroyed, people will know.

Like I said, the bulk of the work that's left is mostly just making the display of all this info interesting and easy to read. The hard part of making all the logic and keeping track of everything seems to be done now.

Turks dont seem to have alot of leopard 2s, and even those can fall prey to T-90s easily

They do have an assload of M-60s, which wont last a day against any sort of T-72 under competent leadership

As much as i like the idea of a glorious mechanized push into Constantinople a conventional war will most likely be Russia cutting the nuts off the Turkish air-force (airfeild bombing campaign, ASF's establishing air superioty under S-300 cover), bombing some high value targets, some small skirmishes here and there until the Turkish military launches yet another coup at the Islamist leadership

Dosent matter if every kebab and Turkey hates Russia's guts- at-least some of them are smart enough to realize that fucking with Russia is not worth it from an economic and military point of view

Even if nothing happens as a result of the shoot-down (sadly most likely) Russia can kek them hard economically, China will gladly buy any surplus gas from Russia

>>
>>123349260
The ET is an IR missile. Even if it can physically hit a target, the plane won't let you fire it until the missile itself has locked onto the target.

In the Sidewinder, that's what the growl is. It's the strength of the lock of the missile's seeker head. The LA showing up for the ET is same thing as the Sidewinder's growl getting loud.
>>
>>123347827
Well, Georgia didn't have any working planes, so why would they establish air superiority?
>>
>>123347648

Russia has no land border with Turkey. To get there Russia has to go through Georgia, turning this into a multi-state problem.

If Russia goes through Georgia by force, it will take time and possibly drag other countries into this.

Any land forces would have to be VMF/Naval Infantry, and they don't have T-90's in arsenal yet.

Any planes over turkey would have to fly across the black sea, so that's Mig31 and Su-27 variants only. Turkey has enough Block 50's and air defense to contest that.

Russia only has the black sea fleet to work with, since I doubt the UK will let Russian ships through Gibraltar, and the US can pressure Eygpt into closing the Suez to Russians.

Turkey has a pretty big home field advantage to compensate for being worse at pretty much everything.

Can a jet jock tell me how to enjoy modern fighters? They feel pretty easy to fly with the only difficulty being in the avionics. I don't really find missile combat fun either. Any tips to improve my experience?
>>
>>123390571
>I don't really find missile combat fun either
You're just gay lad. No reason to hide it, it's 2015
>>
>>123390571
Wait until DCS F/A-18C. Or buy the MiG-21Bis if you like the feeling that your plane is about to fall apart.
>>
>>123390831
What makes the F-18 so special?
>>
>>123390571
I dunno, use the more difficult to use weapons and fighters?

MiG-21 is super fun to fly because it's a piece of crap relative to the FC3 jets, and because of its place in history it has a ton of design quirks that give it a lot of character. Like for example, just landing the plane is always an adventure.

The Russian fighters are all more fun to fly than the F-15 if you're talking strictly FC3. The Su-27 has much more interesting handling characteristics. The lack of a good active radar missile for all the Russian jets means you have to rely either on SARH missiles (which are way more fun and make you work for your kills unlike an AMRAAM), or IR missiles. The EOS on all the Russian jets too gives you a lot of options and interesting ways to attack a target.

I've been learning the F-15 again lately to get some perspective. I haven't flown it in a very long time (since FC2 days, really) and while I find the plane incredibly boring to fly, taking Sparrows instead of AMRAAMs completely changes the way you search for targets and fight. It's much more interesting and fun that way for me.
>>
>>123390992
It's a full fidelity module, not FC3 trash.
>>
>>123390571
Everything seems easier than it really is if all you fly are flaming cliffs aircraft. Try the MiG-21bis.

Honestly it comes down to skill disparity. A lot of the time modern stuff comes down to guns anyway. Positioning is more important, and the art of rendering missiles as a miss is a lot more involved than the endless turning of WW2 dogfights. You have to kinda make your own fun and challenge yourself. If you're getting smacked by missiles constantly, adjust your tactics and work with your team(Though you're always better off finding friends to fly with.). Mix things up with ground attack craft, or putting bombs/rockets on what are traditionally ASF.

Honestly, DCS really spoils you for options. Heck, if you're really that deadset against modern stuff, there are WW2 and Korean War aircraft. I personally prefer modern because there is more to *do* in my opinion. With WW2 stuff it feels pretty point-and-click, with really simplistic flying and a total lack of electronics.
>>
>>123390769
>voluntarily getting penetrated by missiles, which were designed by the jews to resemble sperm and turn white man gay
Pretty problematic t.b.h
>>
>>123391058
>FC3 trash
No one likes an elitist. I like both levels of simulator. Sometimes I just don't feel like fucking with the tedium of the startup sequence in the more involved modules. Though really, that's largely where the differences begin and end anyway. In actual combat/flight, shit's basically the same, get over yourself.
>>
>>123391345
>No one likes an elitist.
Calm down pal, I fly FC3 too but it's still trash compared to DCS. If you haven't the time for cold start fiddling then just Windows + Home, no-one's going to judge you.

>shit's basically the same
Ah, so you're an idiot? Try flying the A-10A vs C sometime. The guy was complaining about a lack of depth in the DCS fast air selection, which is 100% down to them being FC3 jets. The amount of content in a full multi-role DCS module would blow a limited simulation out of the water.

>get over yourself.
lel
>>
>>123392202
>Try flying the A-10A vs C
Not that guy, but it was pretty clear he was referring to the FC3 jets. In which case, yeah there's not much difference between air to air combat in Falcon BMS versus DCS FC3. You can't click on any buttons in the cockpit, but it's all the same functionality and all the same principles at play.

Air to ground gets a little more complicated because weapons deployment can get more much involved than air to air, but the comparison between the A-10A and A-10C is hardly fair considering how different both those planes are to begin with. Even a full on DCS A-10A would be a very simple jet compared to the A-10C.
>>
>>123392202
>Try flying the A-10A vs C sometime
Because the conversation was totally about ground attack aircrafts and not air to air combat.
>>
>>123392965
>Even a full on DCS A-10A would be a very simple jet compared to the A-10C.
I'll give you that one yeah, though an FC3 A-10C would be very similar to the A-10A I feel.

>>123393040
Well I've no reference point for A2A comparisons. MiG-21 I guess? but that's hardly fair... I still find it much more fun than any FC3 jet though.
>>
>>123392202
I have both. The difference isn't that big. Calm down, no one is impressed that you can memorize a few extra switches in a module where you can just click shit instead of having to remember hotkeys and shit anyway. Hell there's even a shortcut button to begin with.

Seria 30. You play a suicide plane to snipe a super heavy.

He's a) cheaper b) better ECM c) more powerful missiles d) better range

And with that range my Serias often make it for another run.
>>
>>123396478
Different roles.
Seria for killing expensive tanks. Su-25 for sniping a cheap target and rearming every 20 seconds.

If you can only take one, the tankbuster is obviously the more vital role.

The IL-2 style game mode is progressing smoothly. I'm at the point where most of what I'm doing now is hashing out the best way to communicate what's going on. I've also fixed some bugs that would cause script crashes.

After seeing message spam like this, I'm convinced batching the under attack messages is the best way to go. The message spam is pretty extreme if you attack a bunch of targets at once, and you already get that in the chat box so it seems redundant.

Some kind of generic "T-55 Platoon is under attack at MM16!" message that comes any time a new attack on the area happens after a set period from the last attack.

Are those 25point T-55s actually a good investment or are they just bad as all hell?
>>
>>123449498
Too low accuracy, use the 15pt PTs if you want a recon tank.
>>
>>123450138
But since they are so cheap and I can field so many of them, isn't it viable to just mass charge with them and get close enough to offset the awful accuracy at range?
>>
>>123450589
If you just want a cheap swarm a 10pt vehicle like asu-85 will give you 2.5 times more units and thus survivability than a t-55. And no, its a bad idea except for specific very closed spaces.
>>
>>123448262
This is entirely possible, however its a really bad idea. Don't believe me? Try using older french tanks with the 20mm cannon to discover the pain and suffering of coaxial weapons in the wargame engine. They work well for GLATGMs, and work OK for the Tunguska. The PZG-95 is extreamly blessed by NOT having coaxial weapons, although this can sometimes lead to the QW-2 displaying truly amazing over the shoulder launches that are widely beyond the real QW-series' capabilities.

Getting an AR and a better AT launcher is actually totally worth the extra expense, MG be damned.

They use manufacturer brochures for their databases, sometimes not even that, they have no military connections unlike ED, it can't be trusted.

combined arms is a better my airforce vs your airforce than CMANO

Try red rising mod on men of war, the autistic amount of inventory management is sublime.

c2a1 has one of the best suppression effects in the game. This isn't easy to see from the stat card, but it is how it is. The main purpose of MGs is suppression, which makes canuck 80 better than 90 as long as cqc and fire on the move arent factors.

ignore the part where I said fire on the move

Some advice?
Maybe too many helis?

>4/5 infatry
NOPE

And yeah, you definitely won't be needing 10 AA helos. Also restrict yourself to one card of infantry in a helo, preferably low-availability infantry with a good RPG (usually found in the recon tab). Also too many atgm vehicles.
>>
>>123485020
also the one other infantry that should be in a helo is your CV
>>
>>123485723
Do I really need heli-borne inf CVs? I'm not really planning to cap those far out zones. I was banking on my allies doing it.
>>
>>123486436
Not mandatory, but it gives you a lot more flexibility with capping. For nations whose transports pack good rockets (think czech mi-i7 or french panther) it also gives you access to those fire support helos without crippling your infantry tab for it, but that doesn't really apply to polan.

Drop a card of W-3W Sokols. You wont need more than 5 of them.

Get your Shock Flamethrowers, those guys are great and should be in ever polish deck.

Take your PT-91s, they are basically M1A1HC clones and are definitely worth having.

Might want to drop a recon helicopter, or maybe the T-55, and get some Formoza.

Consider using your stock SKOT-2s, since they are 10pt, no KVPT, but no 5pt upcharge. If you like the KVPT, use the SKOT-2AP, its the same price, but has the 15% accuracy KVPT instead of the 10% one.

Try the 9K33M2 ROMB, its an OSA-AK with a funny name, get a pair and watch the nato plans fall form the sky.

I would personally recommend the Mi-6 over the Mi-8 for a supply helicopter.

Don't bother with ATGM vehicles, if you take anything in the VEH tab at all, take a ZSU-57 or TO-55.

Maybe try and squeeze in a MiG-21MF, you cant go wrong with 240mm rockets.

Poland gets the Mi-17 with its usual 122mm rocket loadout.
