The system right now is kinda weird.
Right now, Exotic armor at lvl 80 gives you between 920-1211 armor, which is is kind of a pathetic difference.
Anyway, the damage done is Weapon strength multiplied by power multiplied by coefficient divided by armor, so heavy armor will completely nullify an average zerker gear
I just cant ge tbehind how weird this makes everything, because you just cant gauge how much protection you get from a piece of equipment with toughness on it.
Toughness is literally the hardest state to evaluate

For a whole pile you just need 10 days.

In either case, it's fucking retarded to claim this kind of timegating on ANY AND ALL NEW COMBOS is okay.

Infuse light is a fucking 30 second cooldown, 3 second long better than invulnerability heal that also heals and you can still cap/contest fucking points with it. Crystal hibernation is a fucking 25 second cooldown 3 second long weapon skill that fucking blocks AND heals AND you can get a trait to use it when you get low. Unrelenting assault is a fucking 2 second long evade that gives fucking might and does a fuckload of damage with a fucking 12 second cooldown. You need to either exploit a fucking bug by standing next to a wall (good fucking luck if you're defending a point) or evade 2 fucking times just to dodge all the attacks, and your endurance doesn't even fucking regenerate fast enough to beat the cooldown. What's so expensive about viper? Leaf fossils are under 1s. Even with 30 per insig that's pocket change. Black diamonds are 3g per, so it'd be 10g per insig. If you're making 2g a day on quartz, you'll have that recovered eventually even in the relatively gold-starved environment as it currently exists.
Now, what do you need viper for? Raids? Presumably you'll make back you investment quicker.
If you're not starting from 0g I don't see what the problem is.

The problem is that ANet just decided to fuck the entire economy over because fixing the current one would be too much of a backlash from farmers and exploiters that like the current single-material-shortage.
If they'd let us mix&match our own insignias with every of the materials represting one Attribute (blood is power, scales are toughness, totems are healing, etc.) then we'd all be able to have the equipment we want. But Anet refuses to fix the fucking PvE so that we can finally use something other than Zerkers, so the Blood-driven economy persists.
Right now the crafting system seems to serve the economy, not the other way around.

ANet drove the economy in the corner and now use its burning wreck to artificially lengthen gameplay.
The crafting system doesnt seem to exist to give people cool stuff they can use, but to force people to play more to get stuff they need for new content.
