In my experience the term 'crackship' is only used in reference to a ship that's REALLY out there.

I don't even like Maximum Victory that much but even I can see that there was subtext in the AU and in episode 5. Victoria's clingy texts mirroring Warren's in the main timeline, Max's nightmare, the 'nice' version of their conversation at the Vortex Club party which bordered on flirting.

That's why she thought she wouldn't jump - afterwards Victoria is seen crying, even if Kate doesn't jump. The only reason she deflects blame (and lets be real, it's not mainly Victoria's fault she was up there - I would even put more blame on people like Alyssa and Stella, her "friends" that didn't even look at her in this time of need) is because she can't accept that it was her fault, otherwise she wouldn't be able to live with what she did (as evidenced by her giving up on life in the DR), with the guilt (hint: another character in this game that you presumably love to defend and see only the good shit with does the same thing constantly).

If Victoria's crying breakdown, genuine regret and remorse, letter she sends Kate (that even has Kate realizing Victoria maybe isn't just mean - even the bullied girl herself forgives Victoria), realization of what her actions lead to and accepting her death as a consequence isn't redemption enough for something she did in youthful stupidity, insecurity and short-sightedness, then Nathan has to go and save the world like three times to make up for what he did I guess.

Even Max comes around. Which, I don't know if you were that same poster, gives a solid fundament for a more friendly relationship between her and Victoria (hell, we see them attempting that in the actual game). I genuinely do not know. They took extra time, and you can still see some stuff was rushed.
Was it SE as a publisher pushing to get the game out? Seems unlikely since they already made money from people buying the season. Was it Dontnod feeling like people were getting impatient so they rushed? Unlikely since again they already took more time to work on Episode 5 and would have taken more if they felt they needed it.
So the only explanations left are a combination of not enough money to show what they wanted, combined with shoddy writing in certain areas where plotlines where just dropped.
Regardless of the reason, Episode 5 was a sad ending to an otherwise great, and ambitious, game. I wish with every fiber of my being that Dontnod succeeded with the finale.

I think there's potential to go back in the future and redo the ending with more time and money, but I don't know if Dontnod will consider it because:
1. They have been defending the endings and claiming it was what they originally planned (Not sure I believe this) and the only shortcomings where one ending being shorter.
2. They made their money and to ask for people to pay more for an ending would seem pretty greedy. I'm sure they're aware of crowd-funding but may not want to do it.
3. Most people seem to accept and like the endings, despite their flaws, so overall the reception would appear to be favorable.
I doubt anyone from Dontnod reads these threads anymore, if they ever did, so even though we're vocal in our grievances we are just preaching to other anons who already feel the same. The petition seems to be a dead end so the only thing we can do now is hope that by some miracle the ending gets the revisit it deserves or make up headcanons to satisfy personal feelings.

I don't disagree that Chloe loved Rachel, but I think she also loved Max and only realized it until it was too late and they were separated. I think Chloe's love for Rachel was because she had nobody else at the time and overlooked any flaws she had.
Rachel hurt Chloe and hid things from her. Where as Max was nothing but honest with Chloe, even when it would hurt her to learn the truth about certain things.

I love those. Game should have ended on an even more pessimistic tone as far as I'm concerned. Choose Chloe? Boat hits lighthouse and both die just like the rest of the Arcadians. Choose Arcadia?
