That's right. The easiest way to get a 10-star is through Caravan. Get dupes of a rare (most likely the event rare; a ton of people have 10-star Saionji now), increase star level, make the rare your lead, get more rares because of it, etc, etc. There are also people with 15-star Honoka from last Caravan.

For variable texts and other special effects, just look up some scanlating font guides.
Generally speaking, as long as you have a good sense of font selection and follow the basic outlines here:
