The last server maintenance made SRRC invasions actually work every ~15 minutes instead of never, so Fromsoft is on the way to fixing them entirely. You can only fire your Cannon twice unless you stock up on Formless runes, which will cut into other useful runes like Clawmark for higher damage viscerals or Anti-Clockwise for more attacks. That's without considering the fact that the only people you're going to hit with a Cannon are the ones who aren't worth fighting anyways.
Beast Claw is like an exercise in what not to do for PvP: low damage, short range, and poor moveset that encourages aggression but lacks the tools to pursue retreating opponents, and has nothing to deal with your opponents simply taking advantage of your aggression and parrying you. And, of course, there's the fact that beasthood simply doesn't work in pvp. You can't hit a good opponent often enough to build the meter up to any useful level, and if you're fighting an opponent you can hit often enough they're going to be dead before you build the meter up to any useful level. And the Claws themselves aren't even the best weapon to use with beasthood, since their damage is so fucking low.
If you want to deal absurd amounts of damage in PvP (Souls games really, really aren't the types where terms like DPS apply), get either a Kirkhammer or a Ludwig's Holy Blade, switch them to their trick modes, and use a Beast Blood Pellet. Those two weapons get bonus beasthood per hit while in trick mode, and their physical AR is actually high enough to do something with it.

The game doesn't say what the great ones start as. However, all the slug-like enemies in the game are Kin, Ebrietas is the only great one who is also a Kin, all of the slug arcane tools reference either Ebrietas or the Choir, and Pearl Slugs are connected with Isz and Isz itself is related to Ebrietas, Byrgenwerth, and the Choir. I think it's safe to say slugs are just an Ebrietas/Kin/Choir/Byrgenwerth thing, and considering that Ebrietas herself was the great one Byrgenwerth dug up from the labyrinth, the Choir eventually brought her chalice back to the church for communing with her and continuing Byrgenwerth's work, and the relationship between Kin and Ebrietas, I think it's safe to say that slugs are just an Ebrietas thing and not related to any of the other great ones.

You can still usually snag 2-3 hits before they escape. From then on, you're just looking to mop up the remainder of his HP in 1 or 2 more hits. I'd usually go back to untricked mode and pressure with a gun and dash R1s.

It works that way on many R2s but with varying degrees of effectiveness. Beast Claws have some of the strongest tracking on R2 I've seen. I connect with Beast R2 more often than my Reiter or Axe.

The difficulty of a level is defined by the strength of the local enemies. Depth 4-5 Chalices are tougher than anything in the main game. They're endgame stuff. When you can access it really doesn't change anything. The DaS2 DLC is accessible almost right away when you start the game, but that doesn't change the fact that it's balanced for high level endgame type builds.

Depends on the weapon, some have good movesets for hitting it without much risk. Wheel is not one of them. It's still riskier than doing the legs no matter what, but the reward is higher.

Unfortunately, all of the slugs seem to lead back to Ebrietas, so it might just be her "thing". Moon Presence is more related to the red moon, which itself is connected to beasts, and he himself acts like a bloody, bestial creature, so his "thing" is probably the beasts themselves.
That said, Empty Phantasm Shell mentions that the Healing Church discovered a great variety of magic slugs, but we only ever find the three (one of which is fucking dead). I think there's a chance the DLC will have a few more, hopefully one that lets you slurp out insight like a brainsucker.

Still, with only the sinister Isz dungeon a player wouldn't be able to make sinister Loran or Ihyll dungeons. Consider the following: If/when From fixes the SRRC to the point where it can find an adversary match within 5 minutes, making any sinister dungeon will be like stepping into your own procedural Darkroot, except with an extra player.
Even without that, sinister dungeons give more loot than other dungeon types. For example, I had a glyph with 50 ritual blood (5)s that I'd farm about once a week, but it's dead now.
Besides, those chalices are a thing people can just pick up along the way. Might as well get them if it's so easy, right?

It's not, though. You trade farming for challenge, which is much better.
In the first 3 CD's, you only grab shit as you go, and may have to kill bagmen for RB(4) if you didn't grab enough along the way.
The only real farming you need to do is from Ailing, which are Bastards (if you don't go to Lower) and RB(5)'s.
Other than that, you grab the rest out of the main game.
CD's are______fun_____after you create Defiled, and don't take long. I made my most recent new character to max gems in 20 hours, maybe less.

Brainsucker, Watchers, and Ayymissary in FRC.
