Valley of Defilement is cool as fuck, despite being a total pain in the ass. One of the most memorable areas. You have to be smart and cautious as hell. The only thing is that I wish they just disabled rolling, instead of making your character do some "i dunno lol" animation when trying to roll in the swamp.

Dark Souls 2 was made and marketed to appeal to people who haven't played the original. Its an OK game if you have literally no frame of reference, but compared to the original, and even under unbiased scrutiny, the game fails on multiple levels.
There are just a lot of really bad design choices and assets that were kept in SOLELY so the game could be marketed as a hard game. But the problem is that loading up small areas with huge, tanky, high damage dealing and super fast poorly animated fucks, while hard, is just tedious bullshit. The original Dark Souls was hard in some places, but there were very few times where it felt tedious.
What I think makes a lot of people hate Dark Souls 2 is that there is a great game in there, but it was soiled by just absolutely atrocious development.

Hell even a 2 handed greatsword will stagger and 2 hit the knights.
And you only need to kill the first room, 2 in the second room and then its a free sprting down to the last room where you just wait for the magician to come to you, bait an attack from the big smelter dude and run to the fog.

Most, if not all, of the heavy armor looks retarded due to it either looking flimsy or like plastic.

There is no story. Here is the story summed up.

The only people who would even have a remote understanding of what this story is are players of the first game, and even then you go from being "story" to "deep lore"
The npcs are all trash. They never do anything. They live solely to service you and sit around in majula (that stupid bitch still hasn't talked to her fucking dad after sitting next to him for like ever). While in Dark Souls the npcs were more fleshed out. You never felt like the center of the universe because your needs came second to the needs of the NPCs. They went out and ventured and had fleshed out stories of their own.
Bringing back the 4 great ones, 4kids, and manus was just utter trash. There was no point for them to be in the game. (cont)

I love the games pvp, but when the first thing people say when a new game is coming out is "if the pvp is shit i'm out" it boils my piss. The games aren't about pvp, stop trying to get the developers to turn this into esports or whatever meme bullshit because it won't happen. The pvp should be an after thought of these games.
