Why does the f-22 cockpit glass sometimes look orange?

Because it's not glass and it's covered in some radar reflective thing to prevent the radar from coming into the canopy and bouncing off all the stuff inside it.

Why? I enjoy it a lot. They are a lot more of a challenge than the AI.

The only thing that sucks is finding servers that properly support PvP. Most of the populated ones are training servers that have a big protection zone for one side where you can't PvP unless they fly out of it. Also, the lack of teamwork unless you're playing with friends.

In the whole year that I've been playing DCS online in a public server it's happened to me only twice and both times it was that shitter Sweeper.

The other anons were talking about some kind of organized competitive PVP thing that I've never done, so I guess it's different there.

>>121835045
I can't really tell of it's got good gameplay or not. First there was the UI problem, that took a lot of getting used to, it's seriously terrible.

Then there's the problem with ordering your units. I guess you're supposed to five them vague orders and they try to do what you command them to do to the best of their ability, or something. This usually just results in my vehicles turning on the spot for literal in game hours instead of moving or attacking. And when they do move it's slow as hell. I want to like the game because it seems pretty unique but it's really taxing to play

The fact that it's obviously a ripoff and they very likely didn't fully get why it's designed in a certain way, therefore, cargo cult. Like how slavs do retarded shit such as fastening bed nets and bricks (as in, actual fucking clay bricks) to trucks, things like that.

Oh no, they do it because they don't know shit about how ERA works, but since both soviet tanks and some western shit have bricks attached to them they must've thought that attaching anything that resembles bricks to their vehicles must be a good idea.

The bednets idea wouldn't even be that stupid if it wasn't for the fact that the gaps are much bigger than RPGs and HEAT shells (or how the gap between the shit they fasten them to isn't big enough for completely damping a HEAT shell), but you get the idea. A case of cargo cult done right is that T-64 or something that was posted a few threads ago that used spent shells casings as improvised spaced armor.

"the belief that various ritualistic acts will lead to a bestowing of material wealth"
>>
>>121858335
Cargo cult programming is a style of computer programming characterized by the ritual inclusion of code or program structures that serve no real purpose. Cargo cult programming is typically symptomatic of a programmer not understanding either a bug they were attempting to solve or the apparent solution (compare shotgun debugging, deep magic).[1] The term cargo cult programmer may apply when an unskilled or novice computer programmer (or one inexperienced with the problem at hand) copies some program code from one place to another with little or no understanding of how it works or whether it is required in its new position.

Cargo cult programming can also refer to the results of applying a design pattern or coding style blindly without understanding the reasons behind that design principle. Examples are adding unnecessary comments to self-explanatory code, adding deletion code for objects that garbage collection would have collected automatically, and creating factories to build simple objects.
>>
>>121858502
A cargo cult is a Melanesian millenarian movement encompassing a diverse range of practices and occurring in the wake of contact with the commercial networks of colonizing societies. The name derives from the belief that various ritualistic acts will lead to a bestowing of material wealth ("cargo").

A cargo cult is a religious movement usually emerging in tribal or isolated societies after they have had an encounter with an external and technologically advanced society. Usually cargo cults focus on magical thinking and a variety of intricate rituals designed to obtain the material wealth of the advanced culture they encountered.
>>
>>121858952

Not saying your wrong, but dont you think it more likely the Ukraine are copying Russian designs rather than westerns ones with the clay bricks instead of ERA? ERA tends to be more common and visually striking on russian/soviet tanks than western ones, and Ukrainians are more likely to be familiar with soviet tanks than western ones.
>>
I remember reading somewhere that the Soviets made extremely detailed maps of American industrial cities. Not just big cities like Detroit, but small ones like Scranton, PA, which is a coal-mining city. Apparently they were interested in how American cities are organized and what ideas could be used in the Soviet Union to improve the prosperity of its own cities

Just a neat little bit of info I guess.

I'm trying to find the name of the guy right now, but IIRC the architect who designed GM's factories in Detroit was hired by the USSR to help with their industrialization as well

As much as some people here would love to deny it, the Soviets had a great deal of respect for American economic prosperity. China is that way about technology, apparently they are crazy about NASA over there

outclimb him, lower alt the sabre has advantage, higher alt mig has advantage, sabre can out run and outdive the mig, I usually spiral climb until he stalls out then I dive in for the kill

A clay brick is going to do jackshit on top of being heavy. If they knew how shit worked they'd weld a sheet of metal on a frame and weld that to trucks.
>>
>>121889801
They couldn't find sheet metal.
They put a brick there instead.

Also the charge will detonate before hitting the armor so it will a create space for the copper to expand before hitting the armor.
T-80s used to have water bricks around the armour in chechnya and it worked well enough.

spam chaff and zigzag
try to position yourself so that your previously spammed chaff is between you and the missile for maximum effect
>>
>>121905597
wouldn't zig-zagging give the missile an energy advantage?
>>
>>121905170
The 3/9 line is good but at close ranges the missile will just follow you. The best way to defeat missiles is to run them out of energy, so regular heading changes are the way to go. Consider putting it on your 9, then doing a quick 180 and putting it on your 3. Since missiles are lead pursuit they will run out of airspeed trying to follow you through a maneuver like that.

no weaving +3/9 is what you should do the missile will waste a lot of energy trying to follow that, and +3/9 your chaff will be most effective since you'll be in the doppler notch, however you cannot press an a attack at that so you usually weave between 2 and 8

Seconding SPMBT, it's a fantastic wargame sandbox, tons of units and factions modelled between 1946-2020.

Better still, it still gets regular support, the Ukrainian war scenarios were patched into the game, for example.
