Glad I'm not the only one trying this shit. At first I was running a R4NK version which included cards like Armageddon Knight and Photon Trasher for rank 4 plays in case the deck decided to brick and wont give me room enough to put BLS on board.

They're still sacky as all hell. They don't have any reliable search power outside of Cyber Network and CyDra Core, both of which are roundabout searchers prone to negation and/or SS Blockage.
Infinity is nice, but you honestly don't get to play Nova all that much to begin with, so unless you open CyDra + Drei or run odd teks like Chronomaly Golden Jet, you're not likely to be able to get Infinity Turn 2. Getting Infinity Turn 1 is even harder unless you run Photon Lead or something. In the meta as it is now, if you can't lead in with a stun and/or control card, you're going to have a bad time.
The problem is that all of the good tech choices reduce the ability of the deck to function in one or more aspects. More SS power reduces the ability for you to have shit in the hand to SS. More draw power causes you to lose cards worth drawing into. More monsters worth playing loses you the ability to reliably play them.

I consider myself a "veteran" CyDra player if you can call it like that and honestly, if you're telling me that your CyDra deck "don't get to play Nova that much" or that making an Infinity turn 1 is difficult then I've to doubt the quality of that deck.
Keep in mind that even a terribad CyDra deck can make Rank 5 Xyz plays quite easily.

But you're assuming their best floodgate against the current meta in Japan is their best play, which it definitely isn't. They have searchable Stormforth and Aither is summonable on opponent's main phase. They have things that outright stop Dark Destroyer's effect. You even have quickplay monsters for battle phase. Farmgirl can't damage over either of the traps, so there's no way for her to search.

GX killed YGO's ability to operate as a mainstream franchise in the States. The dub wasn't, if only because they decided to interrupt any given moment of a duel with a robotic voice spoonfeeding you the card effect(s). It broke down the action and took away the capability of the players to seem like they knew what they were doing by robbing them of the ability to explain how their cards worked.
It was especially jarring because Yusei was a fucking Combo Master compared to the two previous MCs. Robbing him of the ability to explain his full combos really killed the momentum of the dub.
That's not even getting into the other problems the dub had.

Card Games On Motorcycles was cool as fuck. The earlier Riding Duels of the series really showcase how awesome the premise could've been. I mean, falling down an elevator shaft and desperately trying to escape a duel, only to have your opponent dive after you and demand you continue your turn mid-fall? That shit was hype.
