I had some around my plaza and wondered why I wasn't getting any mushroom spawns. And that was why.

And then you had the ereader cards, and while they didn't add much they're still just as comparable considering the packs cost the same amount, sometimes more, and unless you got a rare NES game or something your purchase would basically amount to nothing in game. If I remember correctly the ereader was more expensive then the NFC reader, too. The ereader and NFC reader are both comparable as they're both add-ons that utilize some form of physical DLC to add some sort of content, even if it's minimal, to the game and other games, much like how the NFC reader lets you use regular amiibos for smash 3ds.

I just didn't get it's charm until much much later.
I'm pretty sure I spent more time playing the in-game wario's woods than the actual game.
I still played for hundreds of hours tho, and turned it on for every holiday, even new years.
Wild World was different in that the graphics were shit and there weren't enough new things to keep me interested, and the lack of real-world holidays didn't help.
Plus, I couldn't play online because I had no wifi and didn't really know that online AC communities existed back then.
I actually sold it, (and regretted it), but that was 10 years ago.

The trick to catching Golden Stag is this: You'll notice that all beetles have moments when they move around and moments when their legs are still. Only sneak up to them when they are moving back and forth. If they stop moving, you have to stop moving. Also, don't sneak too close, even if they are moving, if you sneak past the shadow of the Palm tree they're on they will fly away. So only sneak when they move, and don't let your feet step on the shadow.

Marcie is a special case, she came via StreetPass to my GF town, eventually, when I got my own version of ACNL, Marcie moved in in the first week of playing, I grew fond of her, but it has been lots of months in my village and my GF village, so I know this Marcie pretty well, thats why I want a nice place for her.

at the start, they'd just have to build PWPs strategically to block off villager move-ins where unwanted. A bit of plot-reset would even allow for perfectly aligned villager houses with minimal effort.
30 PWPs (and if needed, other player houses) is more than enough for most layouts. Heck, you can even completely block off move-ins that invited campers have to send you a letter that they changed their mind or something.
