The implication seemed to be that she avoided talking to Rin and Uzuki about her decision before hand so that she could avoid the worst-case scenario: she talks to them about it, they consent, and she fails.
Rin and Uzuki would definitely have felt guilty about it despite the fact that it wouldn't have been their fault.
By not talking it over with them, her failing would only leave herself to clearly blame for it. It also made it that she wouldn't have second any thoughts about it. People seem to forget that Mio also lacks confidence about a lot of things she does. She just gets over it by never actually thinking about what she does.
The problem mostly arises from the fact that the allusion to the anxiety of possible failure is very brief, when she gets admonished by the director before being calmed by Aiko.

Unlike Rin's opportunity, Mio's decision to try to see things from her perspective by doing solo activities didn't guarantee anything for her at all.
Mio could have easily been booted from the play for not being up to standard. She was nervous about it before Aiko and Akane helped her.
Which is why I said that a problem with the execution was that it only very briefly alluded to what would happened if she failed, wasn't able to understand Rin, and continued to cling to NG like a crutch, compared to Uzuki's personal ordeal where the fear of failure was front and center the entire time.
If she told them about it, and she failed, they clearly would have felt a lot of needless guilt about it. It was framed to be her own decision because she wanted to respond to Rin, not that she was forced to respond to Rin.

The Cinderella Ball is just there to prove TakeP's point of view and to ensure the continued existence of the Cinderella Project.
Even if the ball failed to come to fruition, it just meant that the Cinderella Project (and other similat deparments) will be dissolved. That didn't mean any of the idols will be fired, nor did it meant that they will never see each other again. They"ll just probably be put into jobs or units that Mishiro deems fit for them.
TakeP places precedence over the Idols own interests rather his own. When talking about Anya and Rin joining Krone, he actually ignores the matter of the Ball altogether and just says that Rin and Anya should follow their feelings. Because even TakeP realizes the latent potential and benefits for Rin and Anya under Krone.

I'm inclined to think that some of them are doing things on their own way. It just so happens that it's better to have one concentrated effort (like what happened to Nana, Nina, etc getting into TakeP's Cinderella Bowl) rather have many small ones that don't have much effect. This is Mishiro after all who wants results foremost.

Alot of people seem to take the assumption that TakeP was the only one who took measures to oppose Mishiro but judging by the sheer amount of Non- Cinderella Project Idols in the Cinderella Ball and the massive ensemble cast of Totokira Gakuen, its pretty clear that this isn't the case.
Even in the Nana and Miku episode, the staff that broke the bad news to the Gimmick Idols did it begrudgingly and we are treated to a scene of them expressing that they aren't really enjoying their job of breaking the news to the idols.
It's more of the fact that TakeP was the figurehead of this rebellion against Mishiro's ideals, but he is by no means the driving force behind it.
I really hope that the manga tackles this side of the story some more. There is plenty of stories for CG to tell under the 346 incarnation of the anime alone.

Just because they don't agree with parts of Mishiro's approach to things doesn't mean they should resist everything she does. Thats not how fucking life works.
They only fight back when a core aspect of their principles are challenged. Kaede has placing importance on fan sentiment, Natsuki has her creative control on her music and Mika has her Gyaru image. As long as those aren't compromised, they really have no problems working with Mishiro's policies.
