Because MoP content was actually good and released faster. 5.3 lasted far longer, even 5.4. WoD didn't just release shit tier content like garrisons and apexis dailies, it actually went back on existing content and ruined it: see professions.

My point was that 5.5 million active players is not a telltale sign that the game is still "good". Yes it is subjective how good it is, however it is obviously worse than it used to be, and no matter how many players it or any other MMO has, 45% sub loss is a dramatic and far larger warning sign that the game is currently trash. Again, it has reached an all time low.

i subbed on January 1st
played nonstop until 6.1 came out, then I almost stopped playing completely
then once 6.2 came out i geared up my main and a few alts, then stopped again
then in the last month i finally got my paladin, priest, and warlock to 100
now i never have to play again
