also this guide came in pretty handy. you may want/need to restart a new character in order to fix requirements for joining guilds, particularly the mages guild, which is pretty much the most essential guild to join due to its perks:

if you want to exploit right from the start, make a custom character, take a high elf and make him critically suspectible to paralysis. normally you would be fucked but high elves are immune to paralysis and that can't be canceled so you get a free perk from that. also un-allow some weapons and armor types that you'll never going to use anyway so you get some positive shit. get spell absorbtion, then make spells at the mages guild that do basically nothing than activating a school for training, stand against a wall and shoot the spell against it, it bounces off against you and you absorb it completely, repeat, train up skills.
try hand to hand instead of anything else, fastest attack rate and you can hit anything (you can't injure most higher level monsters with shit weapons)
speed is basically the most important stat, you run faster, you attack faster. luck and personality are pretty much unimportant, you can put those low and increase your speed
endurance or whatever it's called isn't very important for your health, but there's a slider at character creation that defines max hitpoints per level up, that one's important.
pretty much all quests and dungeons except for the main quests are radiant. a dungeon will be generated once you enter it for the first time and will be like that for the rest of the game, but as soon as you leave it, the monsters and loot will reset. if you get a new quest in that exact dungeon, the layout will stay the same but the monsters change.

also join a knights order (like knights of the dragon in the kingdom of daggerfall) and work your way up, there's a dragon slayer quest (just a dragonling, really). the dragonling is piss easy to kill, but if you soultap it, the soul gem is fucking good, basically one of the best ones you can get because it has a lot of points but has no advantages nor disadvantages. most soulgems from other monsters give you disadvantages.
also look at the magic item category, especially the item repair thing, you may want to make that edit and activate the item repair feature, it's pretty much very important or all your magic items will sooner or later break and you can't repair them. if you use the dragonling soulgems to make items, put lots of item repairs on them, the magic items repair each other then, even those that don't have item repair on it or those you only carry in your inventory.
also make amulets and rings heavy, gets you lots of minus points to add positive points, but they still don't weigh much at all (1 kg instead of 0.25 while an armor or weapon would weigh hundreds of kg then).

oh and save often. very often. dedicate one savegame for the quest giver, you save before you take on the quest, then if you don't like it you load and start over. some quests are sadly bugged and you can't fix them. pretty much all quests have time limits so if that runs out you fail the quest and lose reputation with the guild.
2nd savegame should be for before you enter the dungeon, then all other (6, I think) savegames should be used regularly. just number them. saving is important because sadly the game is unstable sometimes and you may get fucked. save every couple of minutes, it's fast.
also the last option after character creation and before you start is game speed. use fastest, everything else is too slow, really.

Let's talk about the Geth rebellion and its portrayal by the Geth.
Memes about emasculated and incompetent quarian military aside, it's probably safe to assume the geth triumphed due to following:
1. high degree of coordination networked AI is capable of
2. their omnipresence throughout quarian society
3. due to their numbers and nature, high intelligence.
All of these allowed them to respond to quarian attempts to exterminate them rapidly and efficiently. However by the same token these traits gave them ample opportunity to identify and spare the quarians sympathetic to their cause if they so chose.
Since Quarians were waging a losing war and resigned themselves to abandon their entire homeworld, it is unreasonable to assume they would have means or resolve to conduct a deliberate campaign to exterminate their own that have been taken into custody by the Geth.
Since there are no Quarians on Rannoch, at least prior to events of ME3, the conclusion clear: if there were any quarians left behind, they were either wiped out by the geth or forced to live under conditions that did not allow them to survive.
Therefore it seems likely that touching scenes presented to Shepard by the Geth were nothing more than emotional marketing. If the Geth truly remembered quarians that defended their rights as sapient beings, then the only purpose of this memory was manipulation and information warfare.
There is of course chance that the machines subsequently developed some semblance of values and emotions, perhaps even following Reaper meddling, as unlikely as it sounds - after all the Reapers are not truly synthetic AI but rather singularityfag transcendence of their organic foundation. However it still seems that there is substantial risk involved in allowing the Geth to live, be it at expense of their creators or, for the time being, alongside them.
