All this Daytona posting is seriously making me considering getting Azure Striker Gunvolt, but the only way I can buy it is on the 3DS. I might get it anyway because there's no telling how long it's gonna take for the patch to come out. Is the 3DS version still worth getting without the patch?
Unpopular opinion: I think the chargable mega buster is probably one of the worst things to happen to the franchise.
To me, the series was always about finding out what weakness each enemy has and using that weakness, and 4 took away from that element, and pretty much missed of what I thought was the point of the franchise.

Fun fact: The Charge Shot got nerfed in Mega Man 7. It only does 2 points of damage instead of 3. They made it this way since most players will release and hold again to charge, shooting a pellet in the charge shot so the damage against normal enemies defaults to 3. Bosses have invincibility frames of course so the Charge Shot is no longer OP against the Bosses.Too bad all the bosses except Slash Man are piss easy anyway.

So Mega Man is inspired by Astro Boy right?
The world from Astro Boy ( Or Pluto in this case). Where we have so many stories about humans and robots, this is the first one where the robot’s struggle to be thought of as human (or at least equal to a human) is for the most part over. Characters know that robots have a person-hood, even the robots who don’t feel emotions.
Pluto is a really great manga, so many good emotional moments. Probably my favorite of the scifi genre that deals with a future where artificial intelligence and humans are trying to co-exist peacefully.
I really wish the Mega Man series explored this a in greater detail but in most of the franchise the subject isn't even touched. We see even fewer humans in the X series than we do in the classic series.

On top of all this, there are some glaring gameplay and aesthetic flaws.

I wish there was more humans involved in fighting during gameplays/story, either boss or just regular enemies with or without the Megaman being capable of using the copy chip on them (in case of being a boss). It's a thing that was ignored completely in the Megaman universe, especially being classified as Sci-fi game, (X series can be classified as Cyberpunk) since this kind of genre generally carry trans-humanist ideas. The only humans we know that engaged in combat was Dr. Wily and Dr. Cossack.

The game feels really nice to play on the 3DS. Definitely get that demo and see if you like it. As for that patch, seems like it'll be a difficult thing to do but they're working on it. I tried to ask about it and they had no date set for it still. The audio is very fun to listen to but really distracting. Expect the first playthrough to be very slow and cautious. Really easy to skip dialogue.

Dr. Wily built his robots just to defeat Mega Man, that's why Quick Man says that he is a weapon and was built for war, his line wasn't made to have any practical purpose except "break the robot guy to pieces".
The third line was made originally as a collaboration between Light and Wily, and they had purposes. Top Man was made for scouting on planets, for example. Shadow Man is an alien robot even on the games' canon, so he really has no excuse.

"Megaman but better" is inherently an idea that hinges on someone ELSE, instead of being their own thing. Wily realized that it was a mistake to make a robot who could not be their own robot, because that would never be "better" than a robot who is just itself. So, how does he one up Megaman/Light? Create a robot that is on an entirely different level, one that transcends all preconceived ideas of what a robot CAN BE!

Wily is an engineer/roboticist. Light was probably more of a programmer; his idea was the network project.
Wily is an engineering genius, but never becomes quite as good at programming the robots as light was. Light becomes a better engineer, but doesn't stay on the bleeding edge of design like Wily does.

In MM&B, Wily said that if Bass defeated King, Bass would become stronger, possibly strong enough to defeat Mega Man. If King beat Bass, it would prove that Bass is too outdated to continue.
Essentially, Bass gets to not be decommissioned because despite his rebelliousness he's still the strongest robot master Wily's made. That includes his battle training from the arcades/MM7/MM&B, so he can't just upload a new Bass.

If Rock gets his FULL arsenal, Astro Boy does not really stand a chance. Rock has too much support, too many options, and really a counter for anything Astro Boy can throw at him while also being demonstrably tougher. Astro Boy is much more of a loner, the recent movie notwithstanding, and he is not nearly as adaptable. Mega Man can tank plasma shots, atomic fire, survived a castle being dropped on him, and has defeated more named robots than have even appeared in Astro Boy's entire manga or animated run.
f Rock has a limited arsenal (much more likely, given how they handled Wily Vs Eggman), this will be a closer match, but Rock still has the edge. Astro can fly, so giving Rock access to at least Rush is a given, which means we'll likely see the Super Adaptor in use at some point. Even a limited master weapon array would have to be very carefully picked to not give Rock an edge, since there are a number of weapons that would just end Astro Boy outright (Gravity Hold, Flash Stopper, Astro Crush for the puns of damage).

The thing is, Jazzwares had a bunch more stuff ready to come out. Some of it was pretty cool, but no one was buying the figures that came out.
Included in the cancelled stuff was 11 more color variations of Mega Man, Wood Man, Bass, Ice Man, Metal Man, Skull Man, a Sigma VS Zero play set, Battle And Chase toys that included the cars with the characters(The line would have come with Mega Man and his Rush Roaster, Bass, Quick Man and Proto Man), Pirate Man, Vile MK V, X with a ride armor, Mega Man Volnutt, Command Mission X, and a resin statue of Air Man.
Pic related did come out in very limited quantities. It shows up on eBay once in a blue moon.
