I'll be getting this game soon, and while I'm trying not to spoil much of it, I'm interested in something about the 'parry' system. If I understand it correctly, you have to shoot enemies as they're in a attack animation, right? How does this work for pvp? Is it delayed similarly to dark souls in that you have to predict the attack ahead of time?

there's really no delay in pvp but the window is generally shorter on human opponents, including npcs, than it is on standard enemies
the only thing you have to really predict before hand is a heal because the parry window on healing is tiny as fuck

The combat is more polished you can do two or three hits in one animation, but that shit doesn't work well for PvE because is not well balanced, the problem is enemies are too fast, poise is non-existent so while it works for some enemies at the beginning, in late game enemies stagger you by sneezing so you will end playing the game like the old soul games, however when you face a hunter that's when the combat gets good because all the intented principles work when you 1v1 a player.
Contrary to the popular opinion the combat works much better in PvP than PvE, the problem is invasions are obtuse as they get you need a bell maiden in order to invade and you find those in two locations, however don't let this discourage you, try to pvp in fight clubs.

The fun part is that, in theory, invasions would work fucking great for chalices. Whenever a player makes a new dungeon, there's a 1/20 chance per floor to have a sinister bell maiden. That means if 100 people make a new FRC in one day, about 20 of those will be invadeable and those poor fuckers won't know where the maiden is.
Once SRRC gets fixed, that's going to be the end game of BB.

I am trying to get preped for the DLC by making a build that can immediately equip them all.
So far I have 30/20/30/15/18/25 That's around level 88, It lets you use everything in the base game except a call beyond. It should also cover the Bow and the Pizza Cutter so far.
Assuming none of the DLC items have huge requirements, it should also let you use a call beyond and get 50 or almost 50 Vit by level 125.

Actually the premise of the character is being able to use everything in the game period without being severely over-levelled. That includes the gear from the base game. The idea is to have a character that allows you to test gear and see if you like it before you spend large amounts of time building around a piece of gear, only to realize you don't like it.

People say you're supposed to make your characters around your weapons in Bloodborne, but that really only applies to a couple of them (Tonitrus and Wheel, for the most part). A 10str/50skl build can use Cane, BoM, BB, Reiter, and soon Bowblade, all optimally. A 50str/12skl build can use Hammer, Axe, Wheel, arguably Claws and Saw Cleaver, soon Saw Mill, and with 15 skill Threaded Cleaver. An arcane build can use everything except BoM, BB, Bow, Reiter, Rifle, and Chikage. Bloodtinge builds are the only ones with a weapon selection that doesn't resemble Demon's Souls in some way.
