DX 8 support. Some of the older characters, like Sidorovich and Strelok.

Some of the gunplay and gun handling. Put a bit more into AI, considering that some mods made really great.

I only played soc, so I'd say the way NPCs interacts with you, almost all of them only give you missions and thats it, all friendship ties only happens on cutscenes. I'd like to see the NPCs more involved in the gameplay than just giving you missions, the only interactions I can recall from NPCs that aren't talking, are a few escorts missions.
It would be awesome to have something like, the ability to use your PDA and call a stalker friend to come and help you if you're surrounded by monsters or bandits.
That and add more monsters.

I don't know if this happens on other Stalker games, but on soc, the bodies of the dead ones would stay in the map forever, so after a few days of playing you would find yourself in a map with more than 30 bodies on the ground.

not true in vanilla games. Only few special NPCs would have their corpses stay for extended periods of time, but otherwise a single body remains only a mere day or so.

DX8 support and CoP's improvements in general. Also, behaviour of mutants is different in ShoC in comparison to CS and CoP and I want ShoC's mutant behaviours back.

First, use OpenXRay and further rig the fuck out of it. Un-spaghettifying the code should be the primary concern but further optimization and anything else goes as well.
Second, the upgrade system. Either swap it out for a lighter CS upgrade system or ditch it completely. Upgrades make everything OP in CoP with ease.
Third, the gunplay. Anyone that's played vanilla STALKER for more than 15mins knows what I'm talking about. It doesn't have to be '''''hardcore''''' or '''''realistic''''' garbage, just make it feel satisfying for the player. Completely overhaul and improve ballistics. I can't be arsed to list all the details but you could for example make armour penetration a not-so-simple ordeal. Improve the maps to fit the new gunplay too, though, don't forget that.
Fourth, and last but not least, improve the AI. Make ALife an actual thing, I guess that's how I'd put it.

The game looks quite different. It's mostly for nostalgia purposes, because you can get a similar visual effect to that of the old SoC demos, so of course DX8 support would imply its own shaders that which are similar to the old STALKER demos and betas.
If I recall correctly LA had fixed and polished up DX8 render that resembled the early STALKER demos.

I played through them all on DX8 back when I couldn't afford a better machine, but I can't exactly say I got that attached to it, I like dynamic shadows and stuff.

Keep everything, change nothing, delete nothing. However i'd add a bunch of things like subtitles for the russian campfire stories, full open world would be nice but not necessary, a little further with the survival aspects. Also, keep the unforgiving economy from clear sky, only memer casuals complained about it

Well it is a thing of preference, for sure. I'm much more used to static lighting in STALKER than dynamic, actually. I rarely play with dynamic lighting.
