It's definitely not the worst boss weapon, though. That'd be the Dancer's Enchanted Blades, which is funny because they just buffed their base damage. Unfortunately, a base damage buff is not enough to make them good.
The best boss weapons are definitely the Dragonslayer's Greataxe and the Dragonslayer's Swordspear. Lothric's Holy Sword is also really good, as is Lorian's Greatsword.

OP here. I used the Irithyll Straight Sword my entire first playthrough and loved it beginning to end, but I'm an ice fag and couldn't pass it up. It outdamages every other straight sword I've used, though, but only by a little and can't be buffed which balances it out.

Nah, it does decent damage, it just has the same problem as the Dancer's Enchanted Swords where the scaling is horrible even at +5. In fact, this is a problem that a lot of boss weapons suffer from. You'd think, given that they can't be infused or buffed, that FROM would have at least given them good scaling, but I guess not. They made some weird-ass decisions as far as balance goes-- and I'm not even thinking from a PvE perspective.
If this is anything like DaSII, then I'm sure the game's weapon balance will only get better in the future. Just... slowly.

It's actually really cool. It takes a little long to cast, but the boulder does great damage (That isn't fire-based.) and can be spat off ledges/ladders in order to hit people climbing down.
It's only useful if you actually plan on making a pyro build, by the way. It's not the kind of spell that's good if you just invest in base stats like the pyro buffs.

It's a pretty damn good shotel. Weirdly enough, it doesn't have any INT scaling at all even though it deals split damage. It's actually a pure DEX weapon.
Only thing I didn't like about it was the crescent beam. I felt like it would often hit the ground unless I was somewhat close to the opponent. Then again, the MLGS and Greatsword of Judgement have that same problem, so it's not alone in that regard.

I went from the astora straight sword, to executioner's curved greatsword, to the black knight sword, and can safely say that the bks us my favorite.
His harder than a good number of swords, but us fast enough and lighter, without taking too much stamina.

I did a whole playthrough with the whip and it wasn't bad. You just have to really rely on the range and the width of the whip more than other weapons. Cane mode is good for 1 on 1 and whip is godly for trash mob crowd control. Also tricking into cane from the whip is a god tier move, it's fast as fuck and is great for getting the initial hit on a single enemy at range and then moving yourself into range for R1 cane spam. Tricking out of cane into whip is shit though.
Probably the most fun weapon and I've done entire runs with meme blade, MLGS, Chikage (second most fun), Pizza cutter (boring as fuck) and claws at this point.

It's better balanced than Dark Souls 3. My build had 30/ 30 str/ dex split with 20 Blood and 15 Arcane.
I managed to use every weapon to great effect. It wasn't a specialization build it was a use-it-all type of build. I had every weapon at +9. Even weapons where I got poor scaling were viable in BB because you could add gems. I was doing 1000+ damage with my Moonlight Sword and 350 with my Reiterpallasch (the rapier).
That type of balance is what's missing in DaS3. I mean the rapier will obviously hit more than twice on a good run and any player can dodge my Moonlight Sword since its a heavy sword.

It's a really cheesy spell.
The windup makes it completely unusable in a straight fight, but it does huge stability damage to shields and the arc of it means it'll hit people by ledges and on ladders from over top of them.

It's utter shit. A lot of heavy weapons are utter and completely irredeamable simply because they swing slow, have no poise meaning anything will flinch you out of an attack, and the damage they do isn't worth all the negative.
Just pick your favorite Straight Sword of choice, and do -15% less damage while swinging faster AND being able to buff the weapon. Trust me on this Phamiliamlam. I upgraded many weapons up to slabs (+5/+10) and I still fall back on dark sword because straight swords are too fucking good.

Because in Dark Souls there would be 10-20 swords, with some combination of their move set, and most of them would have too subpar stats to be viable. So maybe there is 3 or 4 of those swords you can actually use, outside of gimmicks.
In BB you get the faggot axe, and thats the axe. Which is also who so many people finished the game with the default weapon you get if you just mash.

Post your character cause I highly doubt you're above level 60. Scaling is the stongest it has ever been in a souls game. You immediately start to see the difference near end game. I have a lucerne buffed +10 with the fire gem and it hits like paper now. Raw gems, fire gems and Deep gems remove the scaling for a straight boost, but as I just said, it falls off fast.
In Dark Souls 1 you had to be mid NG+ to start noticing the difference.

You get a passive boost to luck that isn't shown if you have high hollowing, which is good for a dark ending run. You won't notice any increase in damage but +item discovery is essential on a first play through. I never removed my golden serpent ring, this is the best the series has ever been in terms of weapons, armors and shields to collect.

+10 RAW ASS with magic crystal weapon has something like 515 AR with 35 INT. Dark sword probably comes out on top with 40/40 str/dex refined but that's a whole other level of stat investment. When going through the game the BUFFED ASS makes everything else look terrible and it hurts like a motherfucker later on too with little stat investment. Hilarious to pull that fucker out in pvp after rolling around in robes shooting farron darts or some garbage to get the enemies guard down.

You need so many stats, that you won't have room for anything. You need high Faith and Int to do damage, high FP to cast more than 2 spells, high Hp to take more than 2 hits and some Dex since you will want a weapon to use and dex gets a small bonus to spell casting and are light enough that your lack of strength won't be so detrimental.
You want high dex scaling weapons, anon. Putting chaos and dark gems on things that don't even use your best stats to scale isn't good. You can get some use out of it for funsies, but you're hurting yourself, pun intended.
Rapiers, daggers, curved swords is where you want to be.

i don't think so. i've tried it a couple times in the past few minutes and the dues were able to get out as early as after the first hit of my weapon art. i think alot of it is just players not getting out because the move is foreign to them. something i noticed after doing the full spill of my full r2 weapon art combo is that the swing you're able to do right after can be delayed which might be good for baiting. and i think it's self evident but i was being retarded and having fun when i was using that hammer while fatrolling so i was winning by pure absurdity as well. i wish i could tell you more. but it seems like it could actually be a pretty good weapon

the strongest weapon for a pyromancer is a raw weapon with Carthus Flame Arc.
The objectively best weapon is the Raw Astora Straight Sword, but if you want to use something that's crap feel free to shop around
