Lets talk about FFXV's story
Do you think the four main guys will be the only party members outside of guests? With how this is suppose to be the darkest FF game, I can see at least one of them dying unexpectedly or revealing himself as a spy. Alternatively, I can see Cor being the traitor since he is the guest party member (similar toVossler'srole in FF12).

Or well, I do, it's something about Noctis having to prove himself as a king, but we have seen so many different trailers and all of them contain wildly different locations and events that I have no idea how to link them together at all.
I don't mind not being spoiled about the story, but I'm just confused about what the fuck this game is even about. Are we going to roll around in the car with our buddies the entire game?

From what I gathered
Noctis is a prince from the kingdom of Insomnia. His dad is King Regis. Noctis and his three friends (Ignis, Prompto, and Gladiolus) go on a trip to Niflheim to see Noctis' fiancee, Lunafreya, who is an oracle that can communicate with the gods. While away, Niflheim attacks Insomnia. The reason for this is that the four main kingdoms each hold a crystal which when collected can do some Dragon Ball shit I guess. The kingdoms have agreed never to allow the other have their crystal to prevent any of them from getting too strong. Niflheim has already managed to subdue the other two kingdoms by forming alliances with them whereas Insomnia is stronger and does all it can to prevent their crystal from Niflheim from getting it. It doesn't work however, Insomnia is nuked essentially. Noctis and his three friends are basically the only survivors of Insomnia and they go on a journey to retrieve the crystal, destroy Niflheim, and rebuild their kingdom.

I really like that the newest trailer didn't spoil anything that we didn't know about, and at the same time giving us another Metal Gear E3 tier.
I have high hopes that the story will carry the game in terms of critical reception, especially the ending. Since the whole friends/family relation are so easily relatable, it won't be hard to hit home for some folks.
Off topic: But am glad that journalists are so clueless about how the game is getting severely hammered on gaming forums, since that won't effect the scores. Not that i had doubts, but it's a good backdrop. I don't think this is getting below 87 in metacritc when garbage like Shadow of Morder got an 85.

yeah I have. I went back to play the demo yesterday becase some dude kept yelling at us to find the extra weapons.
I fought the iron giant 8 times in a row and I found most of the things you could do, and I managed to come up with some effective combos, but they didn't feel good to do because i it didn't feel like i was in control at all times.

This game suffers from a lack of direction right down to the gameplay. It's probably going to be alright, playing the demos the atmosphere is top notch at the very least and of course FF delivers with the music, and I never minded the character designs.

Alright guys, here is my opinion.
King dies or goes missing which spurs the journey. Each party member dies at different points in the game though towards the end. One of them is forced to kill another because they're a spy or they go crazy or some shit.
Noctis is spared last minute and has to live through the rest of his life with just the memories of his friends who either sacrificed themselves for him or were assassins trying to infliltrate/kill him.
