So, regarding porn games.
I think we can all agree that porn games aren't really what we'd call high quality games, both in terms of the bits that are more like traditional games and the whole porn aspect.
We often see simple "Tap to fuck" setups, "choose right options and get rewarded with pictures" or maybe a brief cinematic where some humping goes on, even amongst bigger titles but one can hardly call them porn centric. And all of these have been practices for quite some time, and while one might claim "well they don't have the money" there is also something in terms of design that I feel is just not there yet.
But what way would be the way forward for porn games? Personally I don't think VR in itself is going to push it to what it should be, it's basically porn as if you were there, which is nice and all but not much of a porn game as a porn video strapped onto your face.

I honestly think it's in mimicking the way ordinary games are in most ways but incorporate eroticism into it.
Of course in terms of writing it has to allow itself to be a bit silly but not outright stupid like those old newgrounds games, if you really want to make quality games that is.
The problem I've stumbled upon sometimes is when a game is not sexy enough for me to fap to, but gets me hard, which makes it a bit frustrating. Or just plain boring so you end up powering through to porn, if it's fappable you fap and leave it at that.
So I think some sort of progression is important, sure it can be grindy, but it has to lead forward and change the game or have a basic premise that is complex enough to hold interest but not too bloated.

I'm a bit split if I prefer the sex appeal to be sort of on and off. Like there's normal sections where you go about your business without the tone being very sexual, or at all, and then the porn swooshes right in.
I frankly can't see what appeal a porn game with actual gameplay would have. First, it'd have to be something you can play with one hand, because you'd probably want to fap. And second, I can't play and fap at the same time. When I play a game, I want to concentrate on it so I don't fuck up. When I masturbate, I want to concentrate on it so I don't go limp.
That's why I don't see the point of nude mods. I have to constantly stop playing to spank my monkey, and the character just stands there, doing nothing, because I can't play properly and jack off at once. Now, if it is a normal game, but that rewards you with semi-interactive sex scenes(like after defeating a boss, or as sort of a finishing move), I can see that working out.

Personally I really Like Sexy Beach. It's perfectly simple, leads you in not too fast or slow, there's no kind of pretense about it being a game or anything, it balances that very well.
You are slowly able to reveal more and more and get to do more and more with them and dress them in sexier and more revealing outfits as you go along and then get to the full H-scenes.
There's very little frustration anywhere and it has automatic modes when you can just set stuff up and automate camera rotation and other shit, as and how you want, etc.

Personally, I don't think the quality of porn in eroge VNs is even half what it should be. The CGs always look so cheap and plastic compared to any single piece or doujin that artists creates.
Not only that, but all of them have that terrible pixelized censoring. Can't they just draw the little loop hole line that doesn't cover anything?

Take a look at School Days. Granted, the scenes in that were animated, but the decensored HQ version reveals some of the worst drawn junk i've ever seen. I get it, they get to hide it behind their little blur so they can just pretend they actually drew it.
Fortunately, School Days has a million other things going for it with the story, which is my next point. The story is almost always terrible. There are the notable exceptions, but generally eroge are just shit all around. It's simply a much better time investment to read a multi-chapter h-manga. The last level was great in my opinion. You had to grab all the ammo you could, then run fast enough to outrun the horde, dodge all the facehuggers and then finally get to the boss. The first time I made it I was sweating and my heart was pumping as I got to the boss because I didn't want to fuck up and start all over again.
