Sven got carried in lane by AA and carried through mid game by me getting him tons of kills. He had basically no situational awareness or ability to think critically. He could farm okay and blink right click. His decision making was fucking terrible, he was constantly running around at 40%hp against a Legion and Jugg, how he didn't die a fuckton I don't know.
And we were losing until I started barking orders over the mic and thankfully they all listened to me.
Before I started telling them what to do and when to do it Legion had 72 duel damage.
End game she had 90.
I have to give the most credit to the enemy team though. They kept trying to pick fights in the dire jungle making it basically impossible for Sven not to get a triple every time. Without their ineptitude we definitely woulda lost cause Axe was mediocre and SK was mostly a nonfactor after mid game.

Dota isn't a game about who plays better, it's about who fucks up less. Play as good as you want, one big mistake equals a lost game.
Game before this we were totally gonna lose until Slark died, bought back, then tried to solo push mid a bit too deep against a Silver Edge Orchid WR. Also their Ursa didn't build an mkb versus our Keeper and got a Solar Crest fucking kek we should have lost that game but they were all retarded.

Viper wins his lane.
He then loses out on impact as soon as the laning stage is left, and if he doesn't itemize correctly he loses all game impact as the game goes to midgame.
I agree his Aghs Viper Strike is "okay", but its not a game winning ulti unless the enemy is a kite able melee carry who can't blink initiate.

Viper is a mediocre late game carry, I always build him as a Core. He does good damage and is hard to kill, but his biggest asset is his ult for the move slow. You use it to peel for your real carry if they get focused, and/or to prevent their real carry from going ham. Letting Viper have a Skadi was fucking madman tier, 60% moveslow on anyone without a bkb, 100% slow with ult.
I love his Aghs, but I only ever get it if it's a RoA into Aghs type game. Sven and Lifestealer both get fucked super hard by early Aghs Viper.

So many people try to play him as a carry. By minute 30 he has effectively 3 abilities, because his neurotoxin passive becomes utterly irrelevant.
When you can get someone to 50% health in 4 attacks or one nuke from a support it's amazing, 80 bonus damage deletes people. When people have 2k hp dropping them to 1k is a bit harder, and the bonus damage itself is a lot less impactful.
I'd personally only pick Viper for the same reason I'd want to pick a Veno but with the intent of completely shutting down a specific lane. Both have their highest utility around 30 minutes in.

I play viper a lot and I find blink better than aghs most of the times, the mobility is the thing I hate most about viper and blink covers that, while also giving you the ability to pick off opponets and a strong escape. The stats that aghs gives are pretty much useless, the cooldown reduction is neat but really rarely I truly need to use my ult twice in a tf, it just feels like a overkill.

And even with the 50% uptime you get with Aghs, when that 50% uptime happens is the difference between assists and poking.
Sure it helps that it countered 3 of the enemy heroes, but the ice blast still needs to be on point.

Hey he was probably the biggest factor in keeping LC from getting any more duel damage. No lifesteal and no armlet toggle and he couldn't miss when she'd start a duel. He did a lot of long range blasts but he was a good team player. Got a Force Staff when I asked him to and everything.

I personally prefer Shadowblade over blink, but I tend to like playing Viper as a counter initiator more than an initiator. Break is too useful with so many meta heroes relying on passives like Timber, LS, Sven, Luna less so but the 50% damage reduction on her ult is game saving.
I rarely play Viper though just because he's so unoptimal for long games. I used to like Aghs a lot but that was before Skadi was useable on Viper. It was that guaranteed extra bit of slow at the end of a teamfight to either secure the win or successfully disengage, but now Viper can constantly slow spell immune guys throughout a teamfight so he doesn't need his ult to stop a LS or kite a Sven so much anymore.

It's really a boring game. Games get dragged out all the time. Fighting is infrequent turning every match in to a 50 minute farm fest culminating in to one team fight that decides the match. The game isn't even fun to play because of how unresponsive everything feels due to the turn speed. Spells aren't even satisfying because of weak audio and visual feedback. Heroes are also extremely boring with no interesting kits. It has dated mechanics such as denying and pulling. And the worst thing about the game is the players. They all have this elitist attitude because they play a "hardcore" moba.

What do happen is that passive no decisions leads to games extending to 40-70 minutes, because neither side wants to team up or split push.
Then at 40+ minutes, one teams creep wave "accidentally" kills T2 tower, and one of the team takes Roshan of goes 5 man, trying to win the game.
The game then extends to a team fight phase, where the team which throws less will win IF they push.
Sadly most teams don't push, so the enemy team can still recover.

you have to go 1-4-4- and rush veil to farm with him now, once you get ~2k mana he functions sort of like he did before, and dragonlance/hurricane pike can be pretty neat on him, but he still struggles to come online with orb as early as he used to and he's really bad at pushing like always, but yeah if you can figure out his early game and how to transition through midgame you should be fine.

4 stack is nice, but I think a 3 stack is the bear minimum to have good control over whether you win or lose the game. A good carry, support, and mid is enough to win you the game pretty much.
