While I agree with you, I had both of P3 and 4's major plot points spoiled for me and yet they're still some of my favorite games of all time. Sure I'm still going to be bummed when this does inevitably get spoiled, but I won't let it ruin the experience.

I swear, half the reason I liked the first one was the great music (Japanese PSX version). Other than that I just liked the dark feel of the game and the story. Not too fond of the grid system in combat, and the animations really are way too long, but I played on an emulator so I just zipped past those when they got old.

I think the whole game will be ruined, not like "blue Jesus dies" or "Adachi is the killer" but whole scenes, monsters, dungeons, bosses, waifus and secrets. 3 and 4 came late to the ps2. They never had the novelty that p5 will have to get attention until everybody get sick of it.
