It was definitely my favourite match. Street Fighter wasn't that hype this year, besides LI Joe the madman taking 5th place. I'm not sure if I'm not feeling the eSports direction, or if its just SFV

Yeah, that was one of my gripes with it too. Karin's OHOHOHO shit and some fucking Ryu parries would've made top 8 a lot more interesting. That, and not having these no personality Asians on + mirror matches, with little diversity in the top 8 ruined my viewing experience. Knowing Infiltration was gonna win too made it even more anti climatic. The only cool thing I liked about this top 8 was LI Joe's run in top 8.
The pr rog vs bonchan one had me on the edge of my seat the most.
was a funner top 8 than I expected it to be because of li joe and his dad.

I hate to be that guy, but SF4 never gave me these problems.
Tokido brings the hype and he lost before top 8. This brought EVO down. Tokido and Daigo make these tourneys with their insane Ryu.
I thought the finals were a bit boring, to be honest, but Infiltration is such a cool guy I watched until the endand wasn't disappointed.
In the end, nothing topped Arturo vs Momochi for me. That last round was insane.

As always the best part of evo tournaments are when they narrow down top 32 (or 64) to top 8 when it is non stop fights that could be grand finals in any other tournament.

From the little I've seen it looks like Sleep dominates the same way Infil does, and he seems to rotate out the roster a considerable bit, which is interesting and happened a lot in Ultra SFIV last year as well. Rico's run last year was more fun to watch imo.

Mirror match is only fun when the two players have REALLY different playstyles you can point out. Most of the time, mirror match is boring to me but not Daigo vs Tokido due to how different they play.
Daigo plays patiently and never parries, constantly zoning with fireballs. Tokido on the other hand is aggressive and uses parry a lot.
Now that Evo Japan was announced, do you think any NA players will even make top 32? Imagine 5k Japanese players in pools that are too poor to fly to the US to compete in tournaments.
