People say this is one of the worst console ports of all time, with issues ranging from a 30FPS soft lock to Denuvo being used to missing visual effects to abysmal memory issues. It still is hard to run to this day.

...and then Black Ops 3 came out, and made this look like Devil May Cry 4.

Speaking of WB, the PC port is a damn shame. NOW it looks and runs just fine, but the fact WB literally wouldn't OK any of the fixes until people were mass returning it is especially terrible. And why was the PC version given such little care? All because of "muh console DLC," of course. Even the footage they were showing at E3 (which, of course, was the PC version) stuttered every now and again, WB clearly was prioritizing DLC. It's (((just a coincidence))) that the PS4 version was marketed to hell and back, had tons of exclusive DLC, and Rocksteady is now working on a PSVR exclusive Arkham game.

Damn shame. Even the keyboard shortcuts are great, sure is nice to scroll through the wheel (or press numbers) for gadgets instead of bringing up a separate menu. I am able to get 50+FPS at the lowest with all settings maxed out, 70-80FPS on average with an i5, 970, and 16GB of RAM. There's a micro stutter here and there when the game loads up a new portion of the game, but it's a night and day difference from then and now.

You could also try changing the DirectX in the game.

Go for DirectX 10 if you want better performance. Grass will be completely removed, except for a few bushes and there is no MSAA.

Use DirectX 10.1 if you want something a little better while still giving you good performance. With this, you can use MSAA.

With DirectX 11, you can use everything but it will seriously affect your performance if you don't have a good PC.

People and objects use the CPU that's how it's always been. That's why when you spawn 50,000 ragdolls your CPU usage sky rockets. So when you are rendering thousands of meters worth of land, enemies, cars, planes, etc, you are using the CPU. It is not as simple as just "using the GPU".

I just realized something. The battle against Quiet is pretty much the same as the battle with The End in MGS3. Except Quiet was completely trivialized because you could mark her and there were screen indicators when she was aiming at you.

The End was such an interesting boss fight and it wouldn't feel the same with MGSV Fox Engine mechanics.

I wonder, since MS is now making the move to support PC more, does that mean that PC versions of games they've funded can look better than the console versions? As in, the Xbone version is the default version, while the PC/Scorpio version is the definitive one? Considering how Sony claimed that the reason for Neo's existence is purely based on graphics competition, it makes a lot more sense for them to go all out in graphical fidelity.

The framerate is the first give away, followed by how smooth the camera is on the game. The jerkiness of someone using a controller to steer is always a dead giveaway.

I'm not the guys you're arguing with, but this here proves why photorealism is nearly impossible to achieve. What constitutes good computer graphics is how clean and carefully laid out the world is, while reality is very crude and rough, if this makes any sense. Real shadows aren't perfect shapes, and buildings aren't completely smooth and rectangular.

It's odd because the left side only has slight texture pop-in for the most part. Maybe it's something to do with the way lighting affects those meshes and their shadows, but it's weird because while distinctly remembering issues for Africa, it wasn't the same for Afghanistan or Camp Omega. That especially goes for the very close pop-in of flora along the ridge.

Might just be the map because it definitely has a lot more flaws than other FOX Engine areas.

Tree of Savior is about the worst optimized game ever conceived. It's an MMO where dozens of people are expected to be on screen at all times, casting skills with fancy effects and moving around doing their own thing.

Yet, if you have more than 3 people idling on screen at once, even if they're doing nothing, fps plummets below 30. Impossible to get more than 20 in towns with lots of players and shops. PvP/GvG and World Boss fights range between 5 fps and less than 1 FPS.

I don't know how the fuck you'd fix an inherent dependency on tying physics to framerate during development with a god damn dll-injector. Fucking From didn't manage that during DaS2 until the re-release.

Also that easily 'fixed' by not using the 60fps part of the mod that they explicitly warns is unstable due to the retarded way they handle physics in DaS1, and you're still left with a shit ton of convenience settings and unlocking the internal resolution.

Rollercoaster Tycoon, apparently. Never played it, but from what I read, because it was made completely in Assembly, the code is ultra-optimized and runs smooth as butter.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RollerCoaster_Tycoon

>The game was developed in a small village near Dunblane over the course of two years.[2] Sawyer wrote 99% of the code for RollerCoaster Tycoon in x86 assembly language, with one percent of the functions written in C for interaction with the Windows operating system and DirectX.
