Kate is great. I think that game could've been alright if it was more focused on the school drama like "My So Called Life" instead of being a weird ancient evil supernatural mystery game.

>>345386876
That's the game where you get teleported from the future to fight in the civil war, right? I wish it was half as good as it sounded.

I really loved 7Sins. I thought the social interactions were really ahead of their time and I liked how the game was set up. I thought it was kind of neat how getting in with someone's relative or friend would automatically start you on better terms with them, because they've been hearing about you through that friend. Some of the erotic stuff was really fantastic, like being able to rail a trap in one changing room while customers were using the other.
But holy crap, everything else about the game was terrible. The sound effects are bad, some of the levels are super tedious, you fill up your socially awkward bars too quickly, and all the mini-games are terrible. Sorry, I know we were in the middle of a conversation but I have to kill bugs while pissing into this potted plant for the 12 time this hour or I will literally have an autism attack ruin everyones opinion of me. Just having bad minigames would be one thing but they take forever to load and then it takes just as long to get back into the main game.

Not the person you replied to but the point of the game is to fuck with history using advanced technology and you travel through different time periods. From what little I played there was a Civil War scenario, Custer's Last Stand scenario, and WW1 scenario from the view of the Germans I think.

You play as a TIME SOLDIER traveling through history to various famous battles from the Roman Empire to the First World War and single handedly turning the tide of battle with advanced weaponry for a reason that is never explained. Fun combat and premise. Essentially zero story. Worth a pirate if you like history or single player FPS

World of Warcraft

But I lucked out and founded an ideal best friends guild that grew to stability and has endured since Wrath. We all take breaks at the same time so nobody has really played for most of a year and now everybody's back together doing retros and getting ready to smash a few Hellfires again for kicks.

Not world class players but we can comfortably clear Normal and then Heroic of each tier when they're current and chill comfy gaming and drinking bros. It's bliss. And I understand why the game is so fucking shit without this, I founded the guild to escape pubbing and retards who do 30 minute fight explanations forever.

That's not only wrong, that's the kind of thinking that is actively harmful to the industry and a big reason why game reviews are all garbage.

Good/bad is objective
Fun or enjoyable is subjective

To use an extreme example, if someone tells you Big Rigs is good, they are mentally damaged in some way. It is totally okay to enjoy it or find it fun, but that does not make it good.

inb4 you point out a ton of flaws. It's a good game, not a perfect one. And there will be plenty of people that don't enjoy it just as there will be plenty of people that don't enjoy Se7en because it's not their type of movie. Just because Tom doesn't like police procedurals, that doesn't suddenly make it a bad movie. It makes it a good movie that Tom doesn't like.

it's the Timestrike. All it technically does it record the exact time and location of the button press. Then, sometime after the game is over, Sam opens a portal to that time and drops a piano through it on the enemy.

You can objectively state whether something was programmed properly or not or talk technical about graphics. Otherwise it's an opinion.

I bought into the meme. The art looks great, the gameplay is smooth and fun, and the story/lore is part of the appeal, but its a bad game.
The enemies just spawn offscreen and mob you. The level design is horribly expansive considering you just walk to a place, talk to a guy, and kill some shit. Progression is grindy for little point. And while I don't mind a incoherent storyline, the story execution is really bad, there is no immersion or attachment to events. It just feels like a shitty source mod (I wonder why).
The memes are supreme though

Epic Games breached their contract with Silicon Knights regarding the use of the Unreal 3 engine, so Silicon Knights sued Epic. Then Epic counter-sued Silicon Knights for failing to pay royalties. Epic won the lawsuit, and Silicon Knights was ordered to pay them millions in damages, as well as recall and destroy all unsold copies of the game, remove it from all digital services, and never sell it again.

Aside of used copies on eBay/hiding in the used game bin at Gamestop, you literally cannot purchase Too Human.

Crestfallen's, Gwynevere's and Fraamp/Kaathe's monologues are long when compared to the average amount of conversation in the game.

I'm not saying they're universally long, because long monologues require a lot of writing, and FROM wouldn't be caught dead putting actual effort into their games.

You fucking bite your tongue off, that game was one of the best multiplayer games of its generation. The dancing, the sniping and having the bodies just fall backwards, the intense explosions, the fact that the air of a rocket rushing by someone could kill them, the plethora of maps that had so many different play styles, the sounds that echoed as you could hear the grapple rape of some poor snow pirate, the intense VS fights, the fucking main character modeled after the most handsome actor on this fucking planet, and the dummy grenades.

Yeah fuck you if you think lost planet isn't liquid perfection.

Spore.

When I was younger -- 11 or so at the time of its release, not even yet a teenager -- and I didn't know anything about its wasted potential and broken promises, it was probably my absolute favourite game, even if the various "minigames" were objectively flawed and unappealing in multiple respects. I loved it because it let my imagination go wild with all the species and other things I created, spending hours in the various creators; I would conceive intricate backstories, carefully construct buildings and vehicles and ships around a unified theme, explore everything and anything to experience the creativity (or uncreativity) of others.

I would spend dozens of hours relaxing and letting my mind wander in the space stage, against the backdrop of the galaxy, and all its little procedurally-generated planets, and all the aliens and things made by millions of other people, and all the strange pieces of (actually excellent) ambient music, watching my tribe, civilisation, species grow and prosper. I knew (and was aggravated over the fact) that very little in the actual game mechanics reflected this "prospering", but it didn't matter, because I was able to imagine it all so vividly and naturally; everything sprang to life in my mind from the game's flawed simulation, and it was so oddly perfect and incomparable in the mind of the child I was.

I'm romanticising this, of course; romanticising a bad game for poorly doing things that, nevertheless, no game did before or since. I still think of it fondly, the nostalgia of the experience never leaving me, and I sometimes think about going back to it, wondering if I could get back into that creative trance.

Maybe not my favorite, but Smash Brawl. I disliked playing the multiplayer though.
Although I hated Subspace Emissary for being a waste of resources and using ugly new enemy designs instead of nintendo enemies everyone loved, I had a strange drive to get all the stuff in it and beat the other single player mode stuff to unlock all the things, and without using gold hammers. Which one? Spooky Resi clone based on the first movie where some missed item or slight mistake could force you to start the whole game from scratch? Or pretty mediocre FPS based on the animated series? Or maybe crappy TPS for PS2?

I, personally, played both PS1 games. While RE clone was fairly interesting, the aforementioned chances of you messing up didn't let me finish it. Aw, well. And the FPS I played just for CG cutscenes which looked like some fancy 3D special of the original animated series. The gameplay itself with terrible PS1-era FPS controls, key collecting and boring maps was meh.

The AI is fucky, the campaign is piss easy, the controls are wonky, but there's something really satisfying about flying across the map in a Jetpack and curbstomping the enemy from the sky.

With mod campaigns I'd actually call this game really good, Void Wanderers turns the game into an XCOM meets FTL kind of game.
