They're more puzzle focused than combat focused. If that's comfy for you, then yes. Pic related is true comfycore.
>>
>>345377130
Just started playing the second one myself. I couldn't care to make it past the 6th floor in the first one. 2 is the perfect sequel. Open world dungeon crawling with the actual dungeons being short and sweet and spread across the landscape. It's gorgeous.
>>
>That fucking theme
>>
>>345377130

There is a good comfy feel when you go back to areas you've been in like The Hub.

It has a good unsettling and deliberate atmosphere throughout mostly.

9/10 game for me.

I also got a massive boner for being able to put in my own portraits.

>>
>>345383706
Theres just not that large market for grimrock. 1st game had a lot of hype behind it, 2nd one didnt and people who bought 1st prob thought they dont like the genre that much.
>>
>>345383706
I have no problem buying it, I suppose you're ok with me using your cash to do so? Cause I have none.

>>
Is there anything to be done about the terrible fucking performance in the forest? The game runs fine at high settings in the beginning area and in dungeons, but that fucking forest is unplayable even if I turn everything down.
>>
The 2nd game made its budget back and the dev is independent. Your point is invalid.
>>
Second grimrock is better then first in every single aspect, but i still like the first game more. Comfy dungeons>open space

So what are some similar games on steam?

Preferably party based and made in the last three or four years.

losing ~70% of sales between a game and 1 sequel usually isnt considered acceptable
>>
>>345379941

I liked a lot of aspects of the first game but hated a few things like the rhythm puzzle, and I wasn't much a fan of the last boss.

I held off on buying the sequel because of those things. Does the sequel not have things like those?

I mean I'm really bad at trying to "dance" in that game, and those were just 2 of the really dance heavy situations.

Are there any rebalance mods?
Race balance in general needs major rework with reptiloids shitting on all other races.

"final" boss is pretty good since you actually fight him instead of running away real final boss is better unless you cheese him

i don't remember any rhythm puzzles in part 2 but the archives entrance puzzle with the uhu ar palaka shit was not one i enjoyed

>>345393307
>>I mean I'm really bad at trying to "dance" in that game, and those were just 2 of the really dance heavy situations.
outside of the early fish dudes i dont remember needing to dance around enemies much unless it was a crowded area

>>345393307 here again

Like, i really liked the old school dungeon crawlers like EotB (I mean I fucking played that thing on the SNES when I was a kid, I loved it), and that was more... thinking, less combat timing. Grimrock seemed to have a little bit more focus on combat timing, but still had the same UI and controls and playstyle that don't really work well with real time and reflexes, which I found artificially difficult. It'd be like making big platforming jumping puzzle sections in a game with Dark Souls' jumping mechanics, it's just wonky and not very good.

The older dungeon crawler games were pretty much turn based.

when a game's difficulty revolves around the controls being bad yes that's artificial difficulty.
>>
>>345398795
The controls aren't bad at all. I had never played any realtime dungeon crawler before grimrock 2 and I adapted to them within the first half hour. I think you're just slightly retarded.

>tfw I tried to take the "final" boss slow

>>
>>345399240

I was talking about Grimrock 1.

There's a puzzle in it where you basically have to play guitar hero dancing back and forth to intercept these glowing orbs.

The movement in the game and controls for doing so don't correspond very well for rhythm game mechanics.
>>
>>345381280
>First game is hyped to hell and back.
>It's honestly not that good. From combat to exploration to everything.
>Grimrock 2 comes out.
>I cautiously pirate because the first was interesting, but fell short.
>Improved in every way possible.
>Immediately buy it full price.

Go fuck yourself. The first game was not that great, and it's not surprising most people didnt want to buy it.

FYI, Grimrock 2 is literally in my top 5 games of all time.
