I don't know much about Starfy come to think of it. Do the original games require knowledge of Japanese, is there fan translations or can I play it just fine regardless?
I remember seeing the commercial for it, with the kid and his grandad fishing at sea and talking about some "Mysterious monster". My friend cherishes this game apperantly.

There are no fan translations. Starfy games have a fuckload of dialogue, but it's all boring and pointless.

That's a bit disappointing, even if the dialogue is pointless it'd be nice to understand it. I'll still try them out soon though.
