It's good and also bad.
The animation is mostly bad but has been slowly improving, because they started the series with a bunch of amateurs and interns for the animation staff, and has time goes on they slowly get better at their jobs.
The Slice of life stuff is generally decent, it's the fights that are hit or miss. There's been a bigger focus on fighting styles and gimmicks going up against each other rather than raw powerlevels but it's been pretty shallowly handled.
All in all it's basically a below-average Z arc with the potential to improve.

The manga KINDA gives a reason why Goku wouldn't want to go SSB at every opportunity. Apparently, once you go SSB once, and revert, if you attempted to transform again, the form would only be a fraction as strong as it was before.
Which is apparently why Vegeta got dickslapped by Hit so hard-- he had gone SSB to show off the form to Cabba, so when it came time to fight Hit, he was severely weakened. Of course then, you sorta have to question whether or not Vegeta is aware of this.
