PC players of DOOM,
>GPU?
>Screen res?
>Frame rate?
I'm thinking of selling my tv to move from PS4 but I'm so poor, I might only be able to get something fairly old. So I need general knowledge of what people are running.
I want to play multiplayer DOOM and Quake Champions
>at least but realistically 60fps
>2560x1080
>>345312859
bumps
i run it on a gtx980ti (gigabyte) so its overclocked.
1080p
everything on the highest setting.
even the nightmare graphical options.
and i get around 100/90 fps on average.
pic related is a screenshot running on my pc

>>345313554
Oh wow.
Hmm.. This is what I'm looking at because I'd also need to get a new PSU and case.

Do you think it could even run 60 fps? I'm really bad when it comes to this stuff because the most experience I have with it is remembering that my brothers computer ran City Of Villains and mine did not.
3.5GiB meme card

If you're after perf for money get AMD, since D44M has a vulkan renderer now.
>>345314270
I was considering that but I also wonder if I want to play other games that don't support Vulkan.
Suck as Killer Instinct.
RX480
1080p
all max, including nightmare settings and aa
90-110 fps
>>345314238
gtx 970
>>345314356
Well it's not like AMD cards can't run normal games, they're pretty competitive with Nvidia GPUs normally, it's just that Vulkan makes them leap ahead of Nvidia pretty hard. Right now the best GPU you can get for $200 is the RX 480 and Nvidia doesn't have anything to compete with that yet since they only launched $400+ GPUs (if you can even find them at that price), so you either get AMD now or wait until Nvidia releases something at that price range.
>>345314013
fellow ausfag here we're basically fucked.
Try and get a cheap pc used or build one bit by bit over time.
Your not going to get a rig that does >1080p 60fps+ cheap
>>345314013
screenshot anon here.
yes you can.
they played it on ultra on a 950, 44fps
you're fine
you're welcome anon
>>345314361
i doubt op can afford a $300aud+ videocard
>>345314762
jesus christ no dont get that
get a 390 or rx480 cheap
>>345314820
stay away from amderp's anon
get something else then
>>345314820
wait a fucking month and get a rx460 or get a current gen refurb card on the cheap.
dont buy old gpus because they dont support the new standards.
>>345314596
I just looked for the RX 480, my only local seller doesn't sell them. And the cheapest GTX 970 they sell is still $399 AUD.
>>345314738
That's why I'm selling my tv matey180. I have a really good sound production PC, the GPU is all that's holding me back, but in order to upgrade that, I need a new PSU, which means I need a new case but I can find them for about $100, right?
>>345315154
>local seller
don't buy locally. its at least 1/3 more in the price. Just get it from ebay or something. I know since i live in a country that has shitloads of taxes.
>>345315286
looked on gumtree and ebay and both have the 970's more expensive.
>>345315637
You didnt look far enough. But either way you can get any gpu for cheaper from the internet if you look for them enough.
>>345312859
R9 380X
1440p
70-80fps average, never drops below 60
>>345315765
Is that with the new Vulkan patch or before?
How would one apply the Vulkan patch anyway?
Is it worth buying a r9 fury over the rx 480? Rx 480 is 220 pounds and fury is 80 pounds more
>>345312859
560ti 1GB

in rare occasions it drops to 28fps

100+, 70 lowest I have seen
Even though 70 is the lowest I have seen, the game feels like it is dropping below 60 at random times. Even though I can see that it isn't.
Anyone else experience this?
>>345316216
btw almost everything is set to max. except shadows (medium)
>>345316263
your cpu is bottlenecking it hahahah you cuckold fool
it cant keep up cuck or maybe its above 90C
wats your cpu?
>>345316374
4790k.
There is no drop in frames though.
It just feels like it randomly for a few seconds.
>>345316210
>>345316216
Although it wouldn't be pretty, dropping the res down to 720p or maybe even 900p should boost your frame rates pretty significantly.
>>345314596
>>345314762
>>345314820
How does pic related seem? If I sell my tv, my unused mixer and throw in mabe 50 bucks, I should be in the clear. I have no idea how to tell if a PSU is compatible btw so please help me.
>>345316537
30 fps is acceptable. I don't like it but I accept it. If I want better then I better get a new card.
>>345316537
Nigga, don't buy a cheap noname PSU.
>>345316263
Are you using Vulkan or OpenGL?
>>345316701
Vulkan.
Haven't tried OpenGL yet as I only got the game yesterday.
>>345316609
It's weird for me, 30 fps is only okay for me if it's consistently locked on 30. Other wise I need it to be running around 45 to avoid feeling discomfort but 60 is where I'd prefer.
>>345316676
why?
>>345316762
Yeah its very noticable when it dips to 25 or even 20 during particularly particle heavy scenes.
It's about time I upgrade but Doom is the first game that has really been out of reach for my card.
>>345316746
Switch to OpenGL. I tried Vulkan as soon as that update came out and it introduced bad stuttering on my 970. Vulkan for DOOM needs some work for Nvidia cards.
I can almost guarantee this will fix your issue.
>>345316846
Tim Willits said that Quake Champions will be made to run fine on older models, I wonder if he means older models like the GTX 630, or older models like the GTX 970.
>old when the game comes out....
I was running Doom on a 750Ti before this (not maxed out), and it still looked great. Doom is well optimized, don't worry.
>>345316537
The GTX 970 is supposed to be a sub-$300 card now. Why is that one $400?

Cheers, you immediately got me to a good looking site. Do you know if mwave is any good?
I'm getting pretty scared about these costs though, I don't think I could sell anything else.
http://www.logicalincrements.com
Use that as a base. You don't need to spend a fortune on a PSU but it helps buying a decent one if you don't want it to die and take the rest of your PC down with it. Import from Amazon or something, surely there's a way to get PC parts in Australia without having to bleed yourself dry for what in other countries is a cheap GPU.
>>345318904
How's this PSU instead?

I love you!
Depending on what people say about the gtx 1060, I might even look into that.
This site is awesome, for anyone reading. It lists the columns by part (gpu, power supply, etc) and lists in rows by how it performs, it has a price tag next to it and if you click on it, in links you to a retailer that sells it to you.
It had me set up as an australian buyer and linked me to an online retailer that ships here. I don't mean to sound like a shill but damn this is all I have wanted for so long. Thank you based anon!

Do you all play the online multiplayer much? I play it on PS4 and I feel that if it had a caring community like Destiny or Quake, then the experience would be much better. A few people joined my PS4 community (kinda like a facebook group page but on the ps4) and I was wondering if there is any similar sense to playing it on PC.
>>345312859
Just a got a 1070
Running on 1080 evertying maxed around 120 consistent fps. I'm literally non-stop cumming.
Esp because I had a 7870 and was running it on 720 on all low to get about 80fps. I cant stop cumming. I fucking love DOOM
