She has never been in need of a health buff. Reinhardt only has 100 more health and much less armor. Zarya has 150 less health and no armor. If you die to Reinhardt as D.va, ever, you are a moron that gets to close to his hammer. If you die to Zarya, you're just awful. Not to mention that none of that matters because tanks don't fight other tanks in the first place unless they are bad.

No matter how skilled you are, if you don't have defense matrix up, you're gonna get shredded due to her massive critzone. Her shield is now a secondary fire that you can pop on and off with right click, it has a meter, like pharah's jets, that last for 4 seconds in total and recharge in 10 from zero. I can't stress enough how fucking GOOD this is, it lets her go toe to toe with people and actually fight it out instead of before when you would pop shield, charge in and hope you got a single hit in before you died. Her damage isn't actually higher, but now that you can get in and out of range with more safety, it FEELS stronger because people are less able to stand and kill you without fearing your guns like before. Now that you can reliably protect your front, and that giant critbox, she feels like she has the MOST health because armor takes half damage from normal hits. Plus you still have her mechless form to fall back on before death and her pistol has always been god tier.
Plus her ultimate no longer kills her and pops in 3 seconds not 4, it even charges faster now. I feel like the ult is overkill, the shield would be enough to make her viable. And I was already doing really well with her before, though obviously not in every match because of team comps and whatnot.
On top of everything else, she combo's extremely well with Ana, long range burst healing is perfect for her because she can be fucking up the enemy formation before it gets close like she's made to do, while still getting strong burst healing to keep her up, because zenyata's healing was too slow to keep her alive.

Look, people say she's shit. But if she sneaks up on practically anyone in the game, she wins 1v1. She has 500 health, 400 of which is armor (damage reduction). She never has to reload and can fly for two seconds oh and her defensive matrix completely stuffs or denies certain ults.
d.va literally made me glad I bought overwatch. It's a game full of familiar FPS archetypes, (red dead, dishonored, cod, TF2) and dva is fairly unique in that regard. The ninja is well represented too, it's pretty cool. I think the character variation and style is just spot on.

I loved her before the buff too, and after playing the ptr, the buff isn't just to make her "better" it makes her PLAY better. the main thing is switching the shield from a long ass cooldown, to a meter you use as needed, like pharah's hoverjets. Yeah it makes her better, but it isn't just a straight buff like increasing damage or health, it makes her more fun to PLAY because you now have an ability that actually lets you fight smart, instead of relying only ambushing, which tracer does better and as fun as it seems, isn't really that useful to the overall game because you spend so much time hiding/waiting/circling around.
Making her shield a meter puts her more in line with reinhardt, but where reinhardt specializes in surviving and protecting, pushing slowly forward and pressuring those in front of him with his giant shield. Dva is an offensive version of that. Your shield is longer range, built more around eating up enemy attacks and nullifying them than simply providing a barrier like Reinhardt. Her charge is far more controllable, good for closing distance or chasing down cowards. She plays like an amped up reinhardt now, instead of a shitty clunky tracer like before.

Until the PTR buffs hit, D.Va is garbage. Her critbox is huge, so the MEKA goes down super easy. She can die getting back into the MEKA on call down, and she can get stunned getting back in on call down, which cancels it out. The MEKA can literally be destroyed while she's getting back into it, even before her screens come up and she can move it. Her ultimate is garbage that kills nobody, as everyone has learned to simply walk around a corner.
She'll be a lot better after the defense matrix buff from PTR hits, but I don't know why anyone likes her currently. She's a joke.

"fun" really only comes from how good the core gameplay is and what there is to keep you playing after it starts to not be enough to keep you coming back.

I get that vibe very much from playing Overwatch. Hence why I believe the game will not be anywhere near as popular around a year from now. Boxes are also stupid as the required XP to level up increases every level, artificially slowing down the rate at which you get stuff and giving you incentive to pay real shekels for boxes. Saying you can get everything by "playing" can be applied to any grindy f2p title on Steamthat won't burn $50 out of you.. For a $50 title, I also expected more maps and gamemodes since there is no SP for me to check out.
I would like to reiterate that I don't think the game is bad per say, I just don't think its worth the $50 price tag and I feel kinda burned at what there is to keep me playingwow! ANOTHER voice line for Symmetra! How lucky!. Team based games like TF2 are not my thing either so like I said, I am really only playing this with my friends.
