I was in college when I played it. Of all things, it was a fan video made to "Teardrop" that convinced me that I needed the game to be part of my life

>went in knowing literally nothing about it
>a completely new and unique Sci-fi world
>retro aesthetics with soft, somewhat goofy looking but endearing armor
>random bits of absolutely horrific imagery to stir things up
>actually managed to get lost in the citadel for a bit

The game kind of changed my approach to Sci-fi entirely. It didn't all have to be deep space explosions, fighters, and drop ships. Sometimes it could just be serene and lonely.

God damn what a great game. Shame about 3 and the generic cowadoody grayness everywhere

I agree with the other anon that 2 wasn't really bad, just way different.

Ugly textures, sprites, citadel reduced to 4 hallways, complete removal of exploration, boring and repeatitive music, retarded plot, and Clint slapping his dick on a keyboard every 5 minutes.

The only thing ME3 had going for it was the horde knock-off. It had more thought and variety put in to it than the entirety of the campaign.

Well the intro is fucking stupid and shits on the arrival dlc and ending of 2.

Everything revolving around the child is fucking stupid and shits on everything it means to have a player made RPG character.

Weapon balancing is compete ass. Even more so if you count the game breaking DLC weapons.

They 2 plot critical characters are restricted to DLC, one of which came on the disc.

TIM is reduced to a babbling retard.

Literally copy pasted the Genophage arc for the Geth arc.

EMS is a fucking retarded mechanic and reduces moral choices to a literal numbers game.

Kai Leng is the stupidest character ever written in any form of media ever.

Bioware spent an entire fucking game building up Harbinger and then did nothing with him.

Everything revolving around the reapers and their plan makes no sense which leads into:

everything revolving around Earth and the ending is the stupidest shit ever put in a video game. 99 cent steam games made by 12 year olds have more thought put into them than this ending.

At least the multiplayer was serviceable.
>>
>>345288076
Agreed on pretty much everything. Was your problem with the intro that Shepard made a great sacrifice in Arrival to stall the reapers from blindsiding the galaxy only to have the reapers blindside everyone anyway?
>>
>>345288275
While that is completely true, and another reason the intro is fucking retarded, I was more referring to the fact Arrival sets up a trial were presumably you'd have to defend yourself against the pissed barbarians.

Instead you're just kind of put under house arrest without trial, and the alliance doesn't even bother to pump you for information until literal seconds before the Reapers attack earth. Also the Batarians are reduced to a complete nonentity offscreen. That's cool. Not like we had 2 dlcs and rather large cast of side characters setting up the batarians as this huge threat against the alliance. We'll just throw that plot thread out the window.

My favorite one that no one mentions is how the Reapers leave the Earth relay open. Like, they took the fucking Citadel, the war is over. They're certainly more in-depth. ME1 characters were incredibly one-note, particularly Tali and Kaidan who were basically codex entries for their particular quirk.

The issue with first details was dedicated to mgs4. It didn't matter what bioware had up its sleeve. The most anticipated game of the next year had a full cover story.

Why did it have to end the way it did? I loved Mass Effect, despite its problems. In fact, it's one of only a handful of games that struck me from the moment the main menu appeared, due in no small part, I'm sure, to the title track.

I vividly remember my abject disappointment upon playing Mass Effect 2, at the same time telling myself that its sequel will be better. I lied to myself.

That said, of all the shit in Mass Effect 3 that went wrong, the two scenes featuring Vigil - namely Mordin's death and saying goodbye to your crew - were at least decent.

Boxes were a little annoying but easy to come by without paying any money.

ME3 MP was fucking amazing. There was a shit ton of maps and characters/playstyles that were constantly being put out long after the game's release for free. Fun as hell horde mode done right.

>Why did it have to end the way it did?
Because EA.

I remember using some glitch on the 360 to farm credits, never got caught and unlocked everything I wanted in no time. Geth were my favorite.

I love the Salarians, infiltrator especially. That cloat + shield drain combo.
>>
>>345298486
My problem is that the unlocks were random and I guess people like horde mode but I just don't. Killing waves of endless enemies just isn't fun to me

>i found it boring so it was objectively bad

Forgot this was /v/, that's on me.
>>
>>345299190
I don't think the gameplay is what makes it objectively bad, I think it's the way unlocks are handled

ME1 is the only decent ME. The others are just mediocre third person shooters with a bad story and characters.

So F Zero GX is the most playable game of all time?

>tfw you will never see any of them again in andromeda
>tfw they will all be long dead and something that only grandparents tell their grandchildren to as stories of the long distant past to make them go to bed
>tfw you will never see them again

I want to fuck Garrus

>>345299462
ME2 is at least as good as if not better than the first game.
>>
>>345299679
Are you actually going to play andromeda? Gross.
>>
>>345299657
But F-Zero GX is the most playable game of all time.
>>
>>345299817
No it isnt.

See? I can pretend my opinions are facts, too.
