Casuals killed my only fun time playing Vidya in the last 10 years. DayZ brought so many cheaters and scumlords into Arma that you cannot even play Base Arma 2 anymore. The whole franchise is fucked forever just because of DayZ and the name attached to it.

It actually is. I'm in the US army and we used a version of Arma engine to train doing combat manuevers and patrols etc.
Basically we had a fake humvee and 360 degree screen and our weapons actually were used in game when we pulled triggers. It was fun as fuck blowing each other up.

Yeah, it offers a lot of training in an almost realistic environment. I mean, it allows users to train and try tactics against each other in a setting of realism, not like COD/etc, that helps them understand battlefield tactics.
Back in the day we used to just fight each other doing paintball, but, this offers a whole world.
One game we play is one team is the terrorists and has to ambush the other team in the "VR" setting. It's pretty fun to see what to come up with.

The Eagle Wing campaign is pretty fun. Starts out as a regular Apache flyin mission then you get downed by a nuke and need to find your way back to friendly forces through the nuked island
I couldn't really recommend the main campaign though I never really tried it. ACE is a good start for mods, might take a little while to get used to all of the keybindings though

Because ArmA 3 isn't a good game. It's a sandbox, and usually after a while the community comes up with something good, but the game itself, as Bohemia delivers it, is clunky, unoptimized bullshit. They're basically handing you a box of off-brand LEGOs and go "Here you go, think of something. But don't forget to buy our helicopter DLC".
