GH live uses 3x2 guitar controller. Thats another story, but GH have full band support since WT.
Bass range from easy to need pay attention to the damn chart because it have open notes. Rock band don't have open notes on bass.

Craigslist is great for instruments esepcially if you can haggle, pawn shops are too overpriced. You can also use eBay but that's risky, an alternative is Reverb like eBay for musicians which is more reliable but trying out an instrument in person is pretty important in my opinion.
For on-disk songs through the fire and flames after I was able to tap the intro consistently. DLC songs For the Love of God and the entire dragonforce pack being a close second.
GH2 was a superior game and Free Bird beat the shit out of almost anything in GH3.

3 is definitely not the best. It was too fucking easy compared to GH2. Hammer ons and pulloffs became fucking easy because you can hold them down way ahead of time instead of actually needing to hit them at the right time. The charts were also garbage and many of them were bloated with 3 button chords on expert.
