I would watch the anime up until Orochimaru is introduced and then leaves. So... episode 27 or so. If you're really into it and can handle one filler episode in between, it might be worth sticking around until they get past the forest completely. But after that (I'm guessing it's mid 30's), run for the hills and don't turn around no matter what. Do not watch any of the tournament fights in the anime. Every fight they either ran out of budget, or censored from that point on.

The technique to learn is to press A twice for his jump A. Tap, then hold. If you time it just right, only half or so of the needles will be held in the air. Since you aren't holding the full set in the air, it drains chakra more slowly. And if you can manage to do it repeatedly, you can combo it into itself until they substitute or die.

No. The 4th GameCube game is the absolute finest the series has to offer. Gekitou Ninja Taisen Special, the last game, was a disaster. The Wii games in general are kind of janky and have a shit framerate in 4 player mode. Revolution 3 is pretty good, if only because the gimmicks are cranked up to 11.

They fucked up her hitstun on her jabs. If she does BBBBB, the opponent can block after the second hit. Characters with somewhat limited moves rely on jabs even more than usual, and Kurenai can't even get damage from that. So then the opponent never feels pressure to substitute any time she gets a hit, so they can kind of use supers and cancels whenever they feel like.
