I just finished the game for the first time. Got happy ending with Ciri becoming a witcheress and Geralt going steady with Yennefer. Just started HoS and I had him fuck Shani and I feel a bit guilty. There are 7 books about this character. Not that much does go radically against his character, hence why you can't really be an evil motherfucker, nor can you generally refuse coin for contracts and quests, because Geralt as a character has been thoroughly established as a true neutral/neutral good (depending on how you see things), heterosexual monster hunter who plows lots of wenches.

At first i was mixing it up a bit, but then i went with 3 alchemy thingies and one for signs. That skill that improves the bonus for genomes is a must have for any build i think.
With the expansion i started exploring signs. Aard, with the ice effect, is amazing. Alternative mode is great too.

Let's start with the things 3 did wrong
-Open world full of nothing but treasure chests every 50 meters and the same stock standard loot each time
-Uninspired and drab world design for Velen and White Orchard
-There's basically nothing to do at Kaer Mohren despite the fact it's the best looking area in the game
-Most side quests involve holding down right mouse button, following a red line and then picking up an item or slaying a monster followed by heading back to an NPC and making one of two choices which are generally keep the money for yourself or forgo the money. This has absolutely no impact on the game whatsoever
-Only a very small handful of sidequests actually impact the overall game and only by either: giving you an additional NPC to help you fight a 10 minute battle at Kaer Mohren OR affecting a 3 minute powerpoint presentation at the end of a 120 hour trilogy which is completely and utterly dissatisfying and somehow considered acceptable when it really isn't much better than what Mass Effect 3 did
-80% of the entire story is allocated to finding Ciri using fanservice to bridge all of the gaps so you can see Zoltan and Dandelion for the 18th billionth time. Comparatively the Wild Hunt is basically a footnote and literally their entire lore explained in THREE FUCKING SENTENCES by Ciri. I wish I was joking. I even have the screenshot to prove it.
-Combat is utterly broken. The way you fight humanoids is the one thing which works. When it comes to fighting monsters their hitboxes are laughingly easy to exploit and so too are their cleaves on you. Couple this with an overpowered talents system and even on the hardest difficulty you're a literal God by the time you're 20% through the game. No one gave a single thought to this system. You also have most of your abilities available to you at the start of the game leaving little room for progression except for perhaps putting a proc on your weapon

Caves where the old witchers first were made, old bastion where you recollect past memories of training. All the nooks and cranies for wolf gear upgrades, the whole trial with Lambert. Multiple side quests, hidden treasures like a fucking Mastercrafted chest piece for the wolf school.
Putting aside the point that it's a stronghold of the witchers.

-Level scaling. The whole game starts feeling like an MMO. You can't beat up an identical looking wolf on skellige who is 30 levels higher than you because reasons. It's utterly fucking ridiculous and turns any skill based component from combat into a game you can only win if you're of the appropriate level. Thankfully the AI of mobs in Witcher 3 is completely fucking retarded and you can run a few meters away from them for a partial reset because THEY USE BRAINDEAD WAYPOINT BASED AI LIKE AN MMO. Only drawback to this is you break your weapon every 5 seconds in this game so you'll be hitting them a long time and it'll be very expensive
-Only two real romance options and limited pursuits beyond that
-The entire Radovid saga is horrendously written
The whole game is like a singleplayer MMO filled with conversations, mundane choices and mediocre combat. I think it's basically like SWTOR with a slightly more competent story but they threw most of what made Witcher 1 and 2 charming straight into the bin in favor of a whack-a-mole amusement park for plebs. I was so utterly disappointed in this game and I couldn't believe it was made by the same people. I guess the money was too tempting.
I think the only time I was entertained in the whole fucking 80 hours was when Geralt, Lambert and Eskel got drunk. What an absolute fucking disappointment.
