Someone on your team can't kick you out. If they fight a gym of the same color they train it making it's level higher (letting it hold more pokemon) and give it more exp (which is like a gym's health).
Someone of a different color probably took it and he must have taken it back. They are REALLY hard to hold for long unless you have a lot of really high CP pokemon and friends to train up a gym with. Even then my friend and I (and some strangers we never saw) had a gym at level 8 with 8 pokemon in it, most of them above 800 CP and we only held it for a day.

Some pokemon are just more likely to have stronger moves, faster attacks and larger HP pools regardless of CP. Snorlax is arguably the most powerful pokemon in the game because of his massive HP pool which makes him annoying af to beat even if your pokemon has more CP. CP really only acts as a multiplier for a pokemon's base stats. Of course you can still beat a strong pokemon if you have more CP or type advantage, especially if you know how to dodge.

I really hate the level/CP system in this game.
Catching anything before level 20 is almost absolutely pointless because you'll get much stronger dudes later on.

Hey guys, i have a question.
Is creating structures in AR really that resource-demanding? Ingress had this thing where you could create a fortress or something by taking pictures of a place and passing it to mods i think, but as far as i know you can't set your home or gain medals or become a pokemon master in this game because it's all about throwing balls and choosing a team (none of which were the point of any of the games).
Is this simply them deciding to take another direction, or would it be truly hard to do?
