I really like KS because it's so down to earth and realistic. The girls all behave very naturally and the routes play out like actual relationships.
If you look at the japanese counterparts you'll notice that 90% of the people who write this stuff never talked to a real girl in their lives.

in my very honest opinion, katawa shoujo works a lot better than most comparable jap VNs because KS was written in English and wasn't translated by a bunch of fuckin weebs. the prose reads less awkward, and that makes for a better overall experience. it might be the case that in its original moonrune language jap VNs are generally better than KS, but for english speaking people, KS is honestly one of the better VNs you can play.
that being said if you want to play something that has sort of a similiar feel to KS i'd recommend Period, which has a cool art style and giant foreheads and it's also a fun read.

They've been so off topic for years now they probably don't even know what their general is based on anymore.
The writing felt like an amateur was translating it from Japanese. I can kind of forgive fantranslations for that kind of shit, but this is an actual English written game so reading it really just made me cringe.
