So I wanted to try this out. The only negative reviews on steam are about people complaining about the ranked score being resetted each season and about the community being shit.

Yes, even as your rank goes up you still find a bunch of scrubs since they're on the same boat, some dudes here and there can get pretty ass blasted though, so prepare to mute their mics or just enjoy it
It's pretty fun. I don't play ranked or anything, I just play matches for fun. Haven't really had problems with the community any more than any other community.

Community is terrible. If you're brand new to the game, you'll meet people bitching about you and your team because the system is fucked up or because he's a twink. You have no chance of even getting good that the game without people with 100+ hours jumping down your throat.
The game has one horrible flaw in that the team that wins is always the team that has the best aerial player, the other 3/5/7 players have absolutely no impact on who wins/loses. They are just there to fill space until the game is over

Honestly it's a great game but don't expect to be awesome at it without sinking stupid amounts of hours into playing. Just casual fucking around play it's pretty fun but if you don't have that itch to be better than other people you might not get much out of the game. The community is awful; for the most part unranked matches are alright but you'll get tryhards who will leave if they get scored against and people constantly whine about putting up to a level 50 minimum entry to even touch ranked because it suffers from MOBA syndrome where everyone else sucks and they are a star player and noobs are a cancer to the community despite everyone having been one at one point.
That being said it's a good party game and the skill ceiling is insanely high for car soccer but due to lack of general content (only 3 or 4 game modes) just playing casually you'll probably not get a ton of time out of it.

I'm having the opposite experience as some folks here - the higher rank I get, the more seriously some people take it thus the more dicks there are.
It seems like at some point everyone has a high enough level of skill that mistakes are seen as a much bigger deal than lower ranks, where people make more mistakes.

I don't see what's wrong with the best player having the biggest impact on the game. If he's the only guy who aerials, of course he's gonna stomp. But with more equal skill levels you can block, counter, and so on.

That isn't entirely true. 1v1 aerials are pretty risky so if they aren't on the ball it's a free goal. I'll agree somewhat on 2v2s but even then I've pulled off wins against a single strong aerial in a 2v2 or 3v3 just from better teamwork. That being said being the only person on either team able to reliably hit aerials is a significant advantage when it comes to ball control.

Well for me it's the first video game where the biggest incentive to play it is to get better at it. I imagine that's because there's nothing holding you back. No level grinding or unlocking shit first, no nothing. There's no catch. Everyone is even.
So when you lose, you know you lost because your opponent was better. When you win, you win because you were better. That's a very refreshing feeling for a multiplayer game in this day and age.

Bought it on sale and what I hate is people leaving half way through, it's guarantees you'll lose and you'll lose full points in ranked when they do. Other than that it's good although the favorability to controllers is a pain when doing air jumps

I really hope that they don't forget about single-player. I love playing Seasons when my Internet is being shoddy, but at the same time the AI is too easy even when I'm doing All-Star difficulty and trying to clog up the map with 4v4 games. Heck, I'd try a season with Snow Day mode or any of the modifiers in exhibition games.
If there could just be another tier of difficulty, one where the AI cars attempt aerials at a fixed angle and makes the game a little bit more dangerous... Then I wouldn't have had to drop this game.

Yeah, I know I could make a steam group, but I think the game should have something more dedicated than that.
