No reason to be idort or exclusively PC if you're gonna cling to dated hardware.

980ti is serving me well, but I'm thinking about going SLI, as I'm having trouble maxing out more recent games with decent fps.
If I'd wanna play on medium or with lower fps I'd get a console.

No, the point of PC gaming is paying more and receiving more.

Console killer budget PCs are a meme unless you find some killer ass sales, you're better off buying a console if you want console grafix.
>>
>>345210837
Are you by any chance implying that GTAV can utilize more than 4 CPU threads? Because that's i7's advantage over an i5 - hyperthreading. An i7 is a CPU made for situations where parallel computing gives an advantage - video rendering, computations and all that shit. Not for games that use 2 cores.

980 if you don't.

Totally, I get 150 - 200 (the cap) FPS in DOOM with Vulkan.
Hence why I want a 1440p screen, 4k is still not quite there.
Dunno about 144 Hz though - those are twice as expensive and mostly TN panels. I'd really rather prefer IPS/VA and greater pixel density.

It's the same with my 680 which has more or less identical performance to a 960.

I've never got why people want to invest as little money as possible into gaming. Why the hell would you spend $350-400 on a PC? Console specs are bad, why would you go through the effort of building a PC to play at 900p/30fps? Or 1080p/30 with zero anti-aliasing and shit shadows? It seems bizarre that people look for deals to try and achieve console-level performance, when most games run like shit on consoles. Woo, the power of 8th gen, 30fps with drops! I don't understand why you would ever spend only $300 on hardware unless there was a console exclusive you really wanted. Even then it would probably be better just to wait for the PS4 Slim or Xbone S so there's less drops.
