I just think it's a pretty good mix between Thief and Dark Messiah while being a weaker version of them. But still a good game. DLC is better too.

The DLC for Dishonored improved everything, besides the removal of a base-hub.

As a long time Thief fan I love Dishonored, it's the new Thief game we never got...we just got Thi4f...fucking kill me.

The best thing is this game is an awesome puzzler with RPG elements that actually help you solve puzzles.
Having your Mage shoot spells into holes and casting light. Missile users hitting switches across rivers. Melee users finding a kick ass sword and using the same sword in a empty handed statue to unlock a secret.
I rolled Rat "Scabskin" the Rogue, Frog Battlemage, Human "Fat Rob" the Alchemist and a Minotaur Warrior.
Couldn't find a workshop level really worth my time, players had a hard time balancing custom content - suggestions?

This game is bland as, world and story wise. I appreciate that all the convicts go to a place and the classes reflect criminals.
The passive tree doesn't provide enough meaningful choices or excitement for getting points, but it is at least admirable in its size.
Having abilities as gems makes them less exciting, and the passives seem to support doing one thing for each class: grab a six-slot chest, find he ability that does the most damage for the passives you stacked - then spam that ability with your mana over and over.
Diablo 3 at least had interesting cool downs, spam attacks and big attacks - and the classes were not just generic things that can do everything, (but should actually just do one thing well)
It was a good experiment in game design though and they've made the best of their early choices, a paid sequel would be really great I'm sure from this experience.

Didn't bother me much, as a frequent non-lethal stealth game player, having less options and abilities than the murderhobo players is par for the course.
That said the sequel is confirmed to have non-lethal drop attacks as well as meat shield and combat knockouts.

Thanks for the suggestions. Are those puzzle focused or more dungeon crawlery? I'm not a huge fan of these style games normally but Grimrock 2 was the best I've played.
My experience until then however has been generic dungeon crawler games without any pizzaz that I can't even remember their names.
Tell you what though, one of the night and magics, or maybe a wizardry, (that 3D off-grid free roam similar genre) had this sick potion system where each potion was a color, red was health, blue mana, mix together and purple is both. But it went deeper and deeper to secondary and then tertiary colours, with like 32 or something potions available from different colour mixes.

It's not underrated it sits exactly where it should. Fun game but it's pretty average in everything it does. In fact I would go as far to say it's pretty fucking easy on any difficulty and WAY too linear for having a city as your backdrop.

Years later, get hyped about it since I was in the mood for a lesser known RPG, bought it - realized I still hated it, classes don't really matter it just changes your weapon animations and dodge.
