If healer does a bad job, group dies. Same goes for tank, but DDs are always bad and do piss poor job, so encounter takes longer and becomes way harder for tanks and healers. Of course, when it's not the case, you are supposed to thank DD as well.
Healing was not the easiest role. It was: Good DPS > Healing > Tanking > Bad DPS. Of course, everything is casualized now, and every role is easy. But before, unlike for tanking and doing afk DPS, you had to min-max your tree, your gear, have good theoretical knowledge, in addition to good game knowledge and reaction.
Dealing high DPS is harder, but it was 1% of players who were able to do that.

Elder Scrolls Online. Lord of the Rings Online are a couple off the top of my head that have good raid/group mechanics. At least in the sense that you need to KNOW how to play your class and understand how too gear properly and how to react to sudden changes and not just expect everything to be handed to you on a silver platter by 'hitting skills'.
