Arguably the F-35 has among the best electronic systems out of any plane, including the F-22. Which is why there is talks to upgrade F-22s with technology comparable to the innards of F-35s. But sans stealth practically any other Gen 4 fighter as an actual plane, it's among the worst.

DCS doesn't have the F-4 flyable but it's one of the most requested planes among the community. Seems reasonable that one of the third party devs will get around to it eventually.

It'll still take 2-3 years to get into the sim after it's announced, so it won't be anytime soon

In the meantime, the F-5E comes out in 2 weeks

No. As far from irrelevant as it gets. They don't even bother putting F-22s in training fights without massive handicaps anymore because realistic situations just mean they kill everything before they're detected. The Marines ran a scenario just recently where their F-35s did the same thing.
People talk about that Nighthawk shootdown like it proves stealth is bad, but shit, they flew thousands of sorties. Thousands of sorties and one loss when against people who got lucky since it had mechanical issues/knew where it was coming from so they could prepare/had to fuck with their radars in a way that made them useless for anytyhing else is pretty good.

And in any real situation where you have an even vaguely symmetrical conflict you can't take your shiny stealth aircraft anywhere near somewhere the enemy has ground presence because they can drop long wavelength radar, it's great in some places, but in a real combat situation it's not going to perform as well and the Russians will happily trade an S-300 for an F-22.

The serbs didn't have a top of the line radar in the NEVA (iirc) that detected the nighthawk, we're 20 years down the line from that, 20 years where America's biggest competitors have had the hull to analyse.

You say that like long wavelength radar isn't limited as fuck. But shit, even if what you say is true, stealth is still a huge advantage since it means you automatically win fights anywhere there don't happen to be magic radars. That's still worthwhile.
Also, yeah, they've had time to check out that Nighthawk. Too bad the US doesn't even use Nighthawks anymore. Nighthawks are old news. Which is kinda sad, since they're cool, but still.

The basis of the technology and the principals are still going to be similar, not the same, but similar.

And you act like it's not deployable and very advanced. The modern stealth aircraft are funnily enough great at what we want to do right now, fight limited wars against people who aren't capable of fielding high end equipment. The F-22 is too expensive to face the attrition rates predicted for a "real" war. (at least in my opinion)
>>
>>345194017
Being deployable/advanced doesn't mean shit if it's not precise enough to actually guide weapons. Knowing someone is there is better than not knowing, sure, but it still doesn't mean you can actually fight back. There's a reason radars don't typically use those weirdo wavelengths.
And hey, like I said, even if those radars are magic and can do anything, so what? Stealth is still really good everywhere they're not, and they can't be everywhere.
>>
>>345194307
Which is what I said. They're great for what we want to do right now, which is shoot brown people while they can't shoot back.

I don't believe it would translate into symmetrical warfare well.

it is.
Only reason F-35 exists is because someone though it would be good idea, to take state-of-the-art tech from F-22, and jam it into one do-everything plane that could replace F-14, F-16, F-18 and A-10.
In other words they put their goal so high, it's bound to be engineering nightmare and suck budget for years, before they will finally give up and replace it with "new", but actually working as intended, design
>>
>>345195338
>take state-of-the-art tech from F-22
Anon, the F-22 was out of date the day it first flew. That is the nature of military aviation. They're actually looking for ways to refit the F-22 with the new computer and sensor packages from the F-35, since a key part of the plane's design has been making an airframe that isn't a decade behind the curve at all times.
>>
>>345195338
>plane that could replace F-14, F-16, F-18 and A-10.
F-14s don't even exist outside Iran, and the A-10 doesn't do anything important.
F-16 and FA-18 basically do the same thing, just one is Air Force and one is Navy. It's not hard to make a plane that can do the same things that F-16 and FA-18 can do. It's not like technology has gotten any worse.

Holy shit, /v/ is again invaded by retarded /k/ rejects who have no fucking clue what they're talking about.

Daily reminder, that:

>Murican BVR missile tech is dogshit and is one of the worst in the world, since Muricans still use shitty, utterly outdated single pulse rocket motors for their AIM-120D BVR missiles
>The kill probability of Murican BVR missile AIM120C missiles, that use the same tech as the D variant, which only significant improvements are extremely ambiguous "fuel consumption improvements" that somehow managed to boost its range by 50% on paper (simply KEK), is no more than 50% against NON-MANEUVERING TARGETS WITH NO AWARENESS OF INCOMING MISSILES AND O ECM CAPABILITIES
>Meanwhile Russians have the most advanced BVR misssile in the world (with Yurop being close second), that can be carried by Su-35 - the RVV-BD missile with an effective range of over 200kms and its more advanced variants, that are being developed, and uses a dual pulse rocket motor, that drastically boosts the no escape zone and Pk values across all ranges

>stealth that allows for firing shit at enemy fighters from a safe distance is a meme, since the Murican BVR missile tech is ultimate dogshit and won't be able to hit anything in environments, when the targets are not rusted Yugoslavian MiGs with no radars or missile warning systems, but actual 4th gen fighters like Su-35S, with a full avionics suite that includes literally the most powerful radar with the longest range mounted on a fighter jet to date, great maneuverability, IRST for detecting incoming missiles at much higher ranges than usual
>the "first-shot advantage" is a meme, since the probability of Muricans hitting anything with their shitty BVR missiles at ranges, where they would not be detected by the Irbis radar, is close to zero
>>
>>345197131
>the F-35 doesn't need maneuverability, since it will never get into WVR combat is a meme, since can't hit shit at long range
>while the statement that F-35 is poorly maneuverable is also a meme, it will not be able to do shit against a supermaneuverable fighter like the Su-35S, that can point its nose at a F-35 on its six literally in seconds with minimal loss of altitude and speed
>the "we don't need maneuverability, since we have the AIM-9X" argument is a meme, since even though AIM-9X missiles have really good off-bore firing angles, the stories about its capability to hit targets within 360 degrees of the carrier are nothing but retarded wishful thinking, unsupported by neither hard proofs, nor even any kind of official statements
>the "high off-bore launch angle is better than supermaneuverability" argument is a meme, since, first of all, no missile has a Pk equal to 1 and the more missile needs to turn to hit its target (i.e. the higher the off-bore firing angle), the more energy it loses, which drastically reduces its Pk; IT'S ALWAYS BETTER TO HAVE THE CAPABILITY TO FIRE THE MISSILE AS STRAIGHT UP YOUR OPPONENTS ASS AS POSSIBLE, because you maximize your Pk this way, and the F-35 would shit itself trying to outmaneuver a Su-35S

>Range improvements on the D model are due to lofting profile.
By 50%? Kek, if it was that easy, everybody would have already done those improvements. I'll tell you the secret behind Murican "range improvements", listen up closely.

You see, all missile maximum range calculations are made against a certain, no standardized targets, that is moving at a certain altitude, speed and direction. You know what's the real reason AIM-120D got that drastic range increase? No, it's not because Muricans somehow developed some magical fuel that allowed the missile to have drastically more energy and not due to the "lofting profile" that somehow made it fly 50% further. It's because the Raytheons marketing department just decreased the target altitude, increased its speed and made it fly literally head on in relation to the AIM-120D missile carrier. BINGO! Now we have a 50% maximum range increase without breaking any kind of laws or contracts!

Meanwhile, the dumb commies came up with an actually functioning dual pulse motor, made the missile bigger and crammed as much fuel into it along with some minor aerodynamics and missile control improvements and even then they got much lower maximum range improvements. These guys really need a lesson in marketing.

Also, the hilarious thing is that Muricans NEVER EVER even mention that their maximum range calculations are carried out against an actually maneuvering target. They never give you any info about target altitude, speed or the expected target maneuvering overloads, that the missile can overcome and still hit the target. This literally proves that Muricans test their shitty BVR missiles againt non-maneuvering targets, while the Russian RVV-BD is specifically stated to be capable of hitting targets maneuvering with an overload of 8g (nobody pulls 9g or higher overload maneuver for any significant amount of time) at 200km.

Murican missile tech is so pathetic it's a fucking comedy goldmine at this point.

Drones are usable only against sandniggers at best and even those are capable of hacking them from time to time. Any sort of functional military that has any amount of EW capability will make your drones into extremely situational, extremely expensive, single use flying cameras.

Drones right now are pretty limited and isn't responsive enough. Fighter pilots are still GOAT. Hopefully we will have Cylons by the end of the century.

Drones don't need to maneuver and the problem is not that they can't outfly pilots (which they can't do right now). The problem is that any sort of link between a drone and its oeprator can be jammed and the drone would have to be truly autonomous with a fully functioning AI capable of target recognition and independent decision making to be truly survivable. Moreover, the drone would have to use an inertial navigation system ONLY as any sort of weak-ass radar you can mount on a drone would get jammed with even greater ease than the link between a drone and its operator, since there are already mobile EW systems capable of jamming fighter jet radars at 300km.

The bigger issue is the idea of handing a piece of software the ability to make calls that we still don't really trust humans to make with regards to the lives of others. I don't see politicians ever being comfortable with the idea of computers killing people and I would expect some military resistance as well.

Oh man, what a cool guy. He posted a laughing dog and compared planes in service to airshow testbed planes that haven't a chance in hell of being produced.

What a cool guy. Russia must really be on the up and up, what with injecting crokodil into their testicles.

Remember what happened last time Murica fought against Russian aircraft of the same generation, instead of knocking down rusted MiGs with no operational radars?

>Among fixed-wing aircraft, more F-4 Phantoms were lost than any other type in service with any nation. In total, the United States lost in Vietnam almost 10,000 aircraft and helicopters
>South Vietnam's army lost 2,500 aircraft and helicopters, excluding number of UAVs. North Vietnam lost 150 - 200 aircraft and helicopters.

yeah alright.

Hey, you forgot your laughing dog picture, so it looks like you're being condescending rather than speaking out of pure unbridled rage due to a crippling inferiority complex.

I mean, the topic of this thread is america vs russia after all. If someone came in and just started shittalking other countries completely unwarranted, well that would be just pathetic. Imagine making literally every situation about your self declared rival. That's some serious bad-anime shit right there.

But you're different. You're obviously the smarted person in the room. That's why you have to rattle off shit you copy and pasted off of wiskytangofoxtrot.

Look at this triggered slavshit. This guy and people like him have meltdowns all over the internet whenever fighter / missile tech is discussed.

Spoiler for you, commie faggot: Russians have been lying about the publicly-available capabilities of their weapon systems since forever.

Nobody seems to care about entering an arms race in this particular area with them, because they know they are lying. How do they know they are lying? Because they have their hands on the fucking hardware the Russians are fucking lying about.

Slavaboos are too busy choking on Stalin's rotting cock to realize that the foundation of every one of their arguments is almost always goddamn misinformation.

So you're not only retarded and fat, you're also illiterate as well? Su-47 never even existed as a fighter jet, it's literally a flying laboratory. The only non Murican plane I've mentioned in my posts was Su-35.

But it's okay, with every post like yours, containing nothing more than retarded opinions or just straight up senseless drivel, the MURRRRIKA FUUUUUCK YEEEAH circlejerkers look more and more pathetic, since they have no actual arguments to present or even the basic knowledge on the subject of the matter.

So the Yurocucks are lying as well? Because the Meteor beats the everliving shit out of any Murican BVR missiles by such a large margin, it's not even funny.

>>345202559
>even the basic knowledge on the subject of the matter

Says the guy unironically and rabidly regurgitating RF ministry of defense propaganda.

Maybe mudshits and chinks are dumb enough to buy it, but lets be realistic here. You know that in a conventional war that the Russian air force would be grounded after about 1 day. That's why you are triggered as fuck.

It's a shame you can't be civil, because I think Slavshit military hardware is pretty cool, even if it is shittier than advertised. That is precisely why they need sweaty little pimps like you to go onto the internet and try to whore it out.

Slavshits had their chance to show everyone how advanced their tech was, when they took their swipe at ISIS. Know what happened? They got shot down by retarded mudshits and turkroaches. Lol.

Nobody was impressed.

Just like they came up with plasma stealth! The Russian MoD exaggerates everything like usual, vatnik. Why don't you link Janes for all of your arguments?
