What is your opinion on Medievil for the PS1
One of my all-time favorite games. Combat and camera is of its time but the atmosphere is timeless; Gallowmere is still one of my favorite settings in vidya. Level design and general progression was rock solid to boot.

Replayed both of them last week. Gameplay is a little clunky and dated, but humour is still top tier.
The second one is a little weaker than the first. Both good, but 2 feels a little bit cheap and juvenile compared to the first game's dry wit.

I've thought this myself. It'd work really well as a more kid-friendly soulslike. I don't think the same standard of trial and error difficulty would benefit a Medievil game.

MediEvil is a goofy action-platformer. Start there. There's really no reason to draw comparison to the Souls series. There's more to video games than FromSoftware. There's nothing wrong with the Souls series, but Castlevania doesn't need to be Souls. Zelda doesn't need to be Souls. MediEvil doesn't need to be Souls. Enough already.

Souls combat is too slow and clunky. Medievil may not have had the most indepth gameplay, but part of its charm was that it was a somewhat fast hack and slash with a tinge of cartooniness to it. I'd rather see a return of its original system, rather than it be a souls clone.

I do. A modern remake would be nice, but I would hate to see how they would fuck it up.
It's my absolute favorite game ever. I can't think of a single thing about it that I don't like, even if I know there are problems with it, it's as close to perfect as a game gets for me.
MediEvil 2, I'm mixed on, I like bits of it but as a whole it's a much, much weaker game.
Resurrection is impressive-looking for a PSP game and the soundtrack is good. Those are the only nice things I have to say about it, all my other feelings are giant complaints.
I sincerely hope thatSony continues to just sit on the property forever because there is no way they'd ever get a team together to do it justice. The original game was very much a passion project with a lot of broad inspiration, it wouldn't be able to keep its funding going and certainly wouldn't turn a profit in the current climate of gaming.At best we'd get another Resurrection, at worst we'd get something like a trash Souls game or bad Legend of Zelda.

How do I beat the graveyard guardians? Getting over the stones in "return to graveyard" is already a challenge in itself considering the clunky controls but even with all lives and full health I have yet to beat even one of the guardians. It seems impossible.
