The insane fandom around this game is just absurd.
PokemonGo could be one of the best casual games ever made in my opinion, the problem is though this game was launched way too early and the game mechanics in their current form are basically complete trash.

Also the Gym game is completely pay to win since Lucky Eggs/trash pokemon evo spamming is OP as fuck.

The whole Gym game is 100% pointless, the only rewards to capturing a gym is to get more shit to capture gyms except there is no point in capturing gyms.
As I have said, if you had increased pokemon spawn rates for your team around Gyms you've captured, that would be a point to the Gyms, if there was some area control game like Ingress, that would be a point to the Gyms.
The current Gym game is literally just a rushing game of who can spam lucky eggs to double exp rate to get high level pokemon to hold onto gyms that currently serve no purpose.

Fredericksburg has a great amount of pokestops/gyms downtown and at the UMW campus.
Within walking distance, at a stretch, there's about 4 pokestops near me. The rest are all kind of dense downtown which is like 15 miles away. So I just see what I can find at red lights and stuff.

Pretty much all my problems with the game.
That and there's no real limitation or rules to how the BP increase goes. So pretty much, whoever has been playing the longest has the 'goodest' pokemon. End of story. Even the pay to win items can't make up for lost time.

My missus catches voltorbs every day on her way to and from work
Pinsirs also pop up everywhere around the gym closest to where I work and zubats are more common that rattata and pidgey
Caterpie, venonat and doduo do show up anywhere but are quite uncommon

I think every phone uses a different mapping system. I have a friend at work who can see different pokemon near him, while I simultaneously standing right next to him see a whole different set of pokemon near me.
Pretty good! I was with my gf shopping on a mall, catching pogeymons when a dude used a lure in a pokestop. Got my highest CP pokaymon, got lo level 5 And choose team Valor. Overall Im having a fun time. Love this game

The tracking and refresh is totally fucked.
At work when myself and my colleagues are on smoko, we haven't had this problem at all. If we do, a simple fix is to restart to app to force a refresh on the pokemon around us.
Usually if something pops up for one of us, its there for all of us. The same goes for lures. Incense is random.
There is an issue if you have the app open, If i go to the supermarket with the app open in my car, when I get home the pokemon at the supermarket will still be nearby with 3 footsteps which is totally fucked. Restating the app refreshes the nearby pokemon and all the shit from down the street disappears
