I really don't understand how people say Jak 1 is superior to 2 and 3.
Jak 1 is so fucking repetitive, yeah the game's alright but it's got little to no variety compared to what Jak 2 and 3 had.
Jak 1 is just platforming with a few vehicle sections and shitty mini games, Jak 2 and 3 had races, escorts, shooting galleries, bonus mission, on rails sections, mech sections, hoverboard riding, timed missions and more.
Some of those may be more frustrating than fun but they added a good challenge and the game respected the player's skill.
Not to mention the setting is alot better, Jak 1 was just obligatory beach, jungle, snowy mountain, volcano and spooky island where Jak 2 and 3 had a lot more interesting settings.
Jak 2 and 3 beat 1 in every way, level design, enemy design, character development, setting design, story, side characters, gameplay, atmosphere and much more.
Jak 1 was just Sony's answer to Super Mario 64, (watch the behind the scenes) kinda like a stepping stone, then when the Naughty Dog crew knew what they could accomplish, they wen't one step further and gave Jak and Daxtar it's own identity.
I've replayed the original trilogy recently so non of this is based off nostalgia.
Fuck people who think Jak and Daxtar became shit after 1, it only got better (some may say Jak 3 isn't as good as 2 but it's still better than the soulless original)
