>no multiplayer

Why play it?
>>
Because it looks like it will be interesting for at least a few hours.
>>
i will wait a few weeks and see where it goes

and then decide if i want to pirate it
>>
>>345140620

Cause multiplayer is cancer of video games
>>
There is multiplayer. The universe is just so large that it's extremely unlikely that you'll see another player.
>>
>>345140620
ive been waiting for a comfy simulator
>>
So people can post this on launch day:

>omg check out this sick planet guys!!! 404594848x8404584 in the fucktard system

and thats basically it.

You can upload your discoveries online, so if a player is searching for something in particular he can check discovered planets to see if there's something of value on them.

No idea where you got that timeframe but sound about right, anyway I don't see the confusion, you saw the galactic map

The game is so fucking big that the likelihood of you running into any of the thousands of other people playing it is extremely slim and unlikely. How realistic do you think it is that you can guide a friend to your location, and how long it would take?

It's unreasonable as fuck, and not the way it was intended to be played, therefore does not cater to it.

The argument to end all arguments.

You don't lose anything of the experience by skipping buying and playing the game and just watching 1 episode of a Let's Play channel where they discover the center of the map.
Let's face it, by the time you actually get there (benefit of the doubt that you don't just quit a few hours deep) it will have been spoiled for you anyhow.

nah, from the hints, generation and structure it'll be more like you play single player but the procedural generation constitutes a part of a "universe" or the total of all possible procedural generated worlds.

yeah definitely that's what he's doing in the interviews
but probably more because they need the money
if they stay vague the hype kiddies will disillusion themselves into thinking it's more than it is
I can understand that, I mean a man's gotta eat, but we'll see if it comes back to bite them in the ass.
But with how short of a memory the gaming community has I think they'll be fine when the rage settles in 5-7 years or they might try a name switch/studio rebrand.
>>

No they're just trying to not spoil everything before the game comes out. Its a risk because you get people like you who want to see the whole thing but the payoff is that people like me who will buy the game day one will be suprised by things they haven't shown, For example how theres procedural ruins and temples they haven't shown any of that but I know its in the game by doing my research. Most people are just misinformed about the game and have done no research hence the recolors argument thats endlessly posted.

>>345154071
>theres is no teleport option
jump drive is essentially teleport, but from what I've heard the game uses some kind of advanced location parameters. Probably relative floating point numbers in system, which might make it essentially impossible to travel between star systems manually.
I remember KSP having problems with it because they used static location and the large numbers would fuck up some gravity calculations.

theres a dozen of them and their focus is to publish a working product. extra shit is cost prohibitive.

they have made it known that they are not opposed to updating the game depending on its success.

obviously no one knows what will or wont be added, but i don't think its outside the realm of possibility
>>
>>345155246
so when will they patch it? manoth after release? 2 months? half year? no one will be playing it at all after this time
>>
>>345155246
this
my guess is they're strapped for time, manpower and cash right now
implementing multiplayer would require at least 6 more months of full time development to make it reliable and integrate it with the current product
My guess is it was a resource and design decision from the start to cut multi.
Nothing wrong about that, but I can predict some people are going to lose their spaghetti when they figure out they can't gank their way through the galaxy.
>>
>>345155448
enjoy multiplayer on a dead server after these 6 months
>>
The game uses a lobby system where everyone gets their own lobby alone for 99% of the time.

If another player manages to get close enough you will both be in the same lobby and have a still minuscule chance of finding them ever.

Even if you were to go to the same planet you probably would never find each other unless you tried for a few hours-days.

>>
>>345155740

I feel that they wouldn't lose too many sales. The comparison is odd, but I'd like to think that many people purchased games such as Stardew Valley, Don't Starve or even early access such as Lego Worlds in anticipation of multiplayer being added.

Multiplayer is the only reason for games to exist. If I can't 360 noscope noobs how will anyone know I'm pro?

That's kind of the point. Just because it's first person doesnt mean it has to be a HALO. This is a game for quiet introverts and curious minds who like the idea of having a lonely adventure. Just you and the universe. For people who enjoyed Metroid Prime etc.

To make gathering resources less of a chore.

Thats literally it, to eventually be able to build a ship for 2 a la star wars and have great fun.

As it stands its just a resource gathering game with procedural content and npc factions that you cant communicate with unless you play for weeks just to maybe get one factions language.
>>

It does though

zero
planet status is reset when you leave the atmosphere as stated int he live play interview

Theres ecosystems in the game with predators and shit but they arent evolving. One cool thing though is the creature ai is procedural as well so some will come down to lakes to drink during certain times in the day and predators can have schedules and come out at night or day kinda like in real life.

Everyone starts at the edge of the universe, the farthest possible point from each other. It will take actual weeks for even 2 people to make there way towards each other unless 1 gets lucky and gets a mega warp drive early as fuck because lol lucky planets.

Without luck you will be alone in the vastness for ever. Even if you found others and went to a specific planet you still have to navigate an entire planet I mean ENTIRE planet, maybe smaller than earth maybe larger, to find a single person.

Even with all that theres still the problem that if they are flying in a ship they are indistinguishable from npcs

Steam listing 3 properties does not define parameters. The game is not advertised as multiplayer because that's not what they want people to be thinking about. It's a small thing that likely won't happen for a long time post release, and won't have significant interaction.

This is all because the secret at the middle of the universe is unlocking other galaxy's to explore. So he doesnt want to say galaxy because that confirms that there are multiple galaxys you can go to once you get to the center of the first one. Why he doesn't answer the multiplayer question well is because technically there is multiplayer so he cant say that there isnt, but the odds of you seeing someone else super low but not literally zero.
