It's only in there because it has the name deus ex attached to it otherwise the writers would straight up do a game about augmented rights (which it probably already is).

Deus ex explored conspiracies like

I like all Deus Ex games.

I even have a shred of sympathy towards the Invisible War.

So yes, I am pretty excited for Mankind Divided and I see no reason or indication to believe that this game will fail to deliver in any way.

...That said, that "Augment your Pre-Order" thing was a fiasco and I'm still not happy that this Deus Ex comes with a season pass.

I'm really not interested in the whole morality of human augmentation shit that they are making the games about but I'll still play it because I'm a retard.

I am quite excited for it. Shame it won't be as much an improvement over Human Revolution as it could be, seems to still be as shackled with takedowns as it was.

I just wish they'd fix the experience system. It's one of my main complaints about HR, how the game shoehorns you into playing in a specific manner if you want to make the most ouf of your levels.

Yes but in the grand scheme of things the whole issue of augmentations (although important) was not the major focal point of the story in the original. I was okay with Human Revolution exploring and focusing on some of these themes more in depth but to have yet another game focusing on it is kind of disappointing to me especially when conspiracies like >>345115921 are barely present or not mentioned at all.

Page was trying to make himself a God through Machinery.

Helios Ending is literally a Deus Ex Machina. Its also ripped out of Ghost in the Shell where the Major merges with 2501 so that she isn't an evolutionary dead end.

New Deus ex just needs a little variety of goofyness.

Dx1 felt like I was stepping into the world of my Crazy High School physics teacher where you'd wander down one hallway and see that the Illuminati were behind Rosswell, 9/11, water fluoridation, and etc.
>>
>>345113087
It's basically Human Revolution except with additional shit thrown in and (based on footage presented so far) better level design.

Going to be pretty hard to mess the formula up, unless they'll do something retarded like having a two-second black screen before a takedown, or something. I also doubt they'll fuck up the boss fights as much as they did in the previous one.

Staying positive here.

The regenerating health system obliterates any sort of risk-reward equation in encounters, it just becomes a glorified COD fps that way.

Linear sections are bad, too. Deus Ex, ideally, gave you multiple ways to solve your problems, and the maps were very labyrinth-like and somewhat nonlinear. It wasn't always that way, of course, but this is one of the big positives DX is remembered for.

More cutscenes remove player agency. I don't want to stealth past and knock down three dozen enemies only to get suddenly knocked out and defeated by one in a cutscene. They're not necessary to convey a good story.

The mechanical apartheid doesn't make any sense because in the original DX, augmentations were just kind of "there" - people noticed it if you had them, but there wasn't any indication of serious aug discrimination.

There's still regen items, I'm fairly certain the health doesn't regen all the way. Plus you're a heavily augmented person in DXMD, it'd be silly to not have some form of self-repair system.

The only real issue is the third person takedowns. Everything else is fine.

What? It's not necessary at all for a mechanically-augmented dude to have a "self-repair system", in fact it'd be have to be pretty damn fantastic for it to stitch up flesh as well as repair mechanical-augmentation parts.

Cyberpunk is Kenji Kawaii Choirs and occasionally Synthetic Blues like Vangelis, not this EDM shit.

These repair systems could be justified in the original DX thanks to the nano-machines that could do damn near anything since they acted on a molecular scale, but the technology here is supposed to be cruder than that.

>This isn't just a matter of women being relegated to supporting roles in popular big-budget games, however. More often than not, these female subjects that fill out the background of the world in a game like Deus Ex: Human Revolution aren't subjects at all. Rather, they're built as virtual playthings to serve the every need of the male protagonist and punished violently and brutally if they ever fail to do so.

That was just the firs article I found after a quick search.

I also remember them being buttblasted about lines like "women never fail to underestimate men" or the idea that Megan Reed and Zhao Yun Ru somehow gave an unbalanced depiction of women by being female villains in a story where, according to them, all the heroes were men.

You realize man and "machine" merging has not been invented by GitS?
>>
>>345126365
But it did come out 4 years before Deus Ex and was no doubt fresh in the mind of DX's creators. Regardless, that only proves the point that Deus Ex was inspired by many things. It's a stretch to say Deus Ex took absolutely no inspiration from a famous anime movie released maybe a year or so before development.

They're trying to make non-lethal not constraining as fuck. One of the great things about DX was that there was no tangible reward for going non-lethal, it was entirely a personal decision on your part with little incentive (in fact, the opposite of incentive since going out of your way to not fight Walton Simmons left him alive to try to kill you later on), but people still did it. I hope this game keeps this.

She's already proven herself capable of writing for the series, so there's no reason to think this won't be interesting as well. HR was a great time and I've got good hopes for MD. I love the original but unless the original team is making it, you can never expect it to play out the same way.

Man, good thing I've stopped listening to /v/ a long time ago or I might actually fall for this shit and miss out on a great game
>>
>>345130575
The whole point of the takedowns was to make it easier to take someone out stealthily from behind. Deus Ex had no way to do this, it was either sneak around or hit them with the stun baton 9000 times. Nonlethal was shit in the first game, so something had to be added.
>>
>>345130575
Yes, some people like things you don't. I know that's sometimes hard to comprehend.

>>345131574

It definitely was at first. The stun baton was shit, and the tranq rifle was also shit (and inaccurate since you likely weren't trained enough to snipe well at that point). Nonlethal was extremely unrewarding in that game, probably why so many people tried it.

Deus ex machina means "god from the machine" referring to gods appearing out of nowhere in Greek plays to solve issues.

I think "from the gods" or "from God" would be completely different and wouldn't be "ex deus" because of the case system in Latin, though I don't know what it would be outside of using Google Translate. GT is saying it would be one word.

Ex Deus doesn't make any sense in Latin because Deus is the nominative case of the word and you wouldn't use the nominative case of a word after a preposition. I don't know Latin but I know how languages and cases work. Machina is a word part of a certain pattern of declination where it stays more or less the same, but Deus is part of a completely different declination pattern and may actually be an exception to the normal rules.
