How do they know they aren't? For all you know they might sell your tracking data to black market organ harvesters. Even if they don't, those same organ harvesters might crack into some servers and get that data even if the devs don't want them to. I only recently started playing, maybe 4 days worth of gameplay. I walked around, drove around and even went to a walmart (there was a fucking ton of mons in walmart, its almost like they wanted me to spend money there). My local gym is usually 800 to 1600 cp blocked, never can break through. I don't have enough stardust to level my guys, clearly....
Any advice? I did breakdown and spend 40 doll hairs, bought largest bundle of incense and balls, and two incubators (feel it was a waste of money on that one) plus a medium pack of lure mods.
Also does incense actually give you RARE mons outside of your level range? I just hit 11 myself. Team instinct in a town with no yellowfags too, so it would be a great chance to fuck up gyms if I could just break through the level gap here.
The most important question is: can I catch up? Is it possible to get full team of +1000 cp in a short timeframe?

Farm shitty pokemon like Ratattas and pidgies, Pokemon that are common and require like 10 candies to level up, then put on a lucky egg and in that half an hour, level up as many pokemon as humanly possible.

I'm level 25 and I'm basically giving up because Pokemon Go is literally such a broken and bare bones app that I've lost giving a shit.
1: What the fuck are the point of teams when gym control and area control means literally nothing and there is literally no way to interact with your team or even know how much of your city is controlled by who?
2: The game is so buggy, it literally took me an hour to capture a gym it should have taken 5 minutes.

The app is so incredibly buggy for me too. I constantly catch, then the ball freezes and I have to force close and reopen. Only SOMETIMES does that pokemon actually go into my inventory, but you can bet your fucking bottom dollar that it consumed the pokeballs.
Then I had an issue where no pokemon where spawning in my nearby locator, and I went a half hour of driving around my neighborhood at a crawl before seeing my first weedle. Fuck.
I promised myself I would play for two weeks, giving it my all, and if I still can't breakthrough then I'll just give up.
One of the motivators behind keeping up with the jones is because this app is so popular, it's bound to see additions and improvements. So those things that you mentioned, like being able to actually interact with people, might be just around the riverbend.

I'd really like to see improvements to pokemon locations. I live near a state park, and it's devoid of pokemon. I'd love to see parks become like safari zones, with denser populations and more variety of species than you would usually find in an area. It would help balance out the disadvantages of people who live in more rural areas.
