How hard do you think the game will flop?
It's not going to flop, financially at least.
They're going to sell more than enough copies to cover development costs and if it's bad people will lose interest in 3-4weeks. Then they might release some "big special amazing lots of content" update in 7 months that spikes the playerbase for 2 weeks then it'll drop again.

exploration is the main activity, yes.
the core gameplay loop is exploration, resource gathering, trading, and upgrading, with combat peppered in. you need to upgrade to reach the center of the universe

It'll sell well, it'll be okay, fun at first, a little dull after a while. Most people will put 6-7 hours into it and move on with their lives. Couple of autists will sink hundreds of hours in. Some other autists will spend the next 3 months declaring it flop of the decade
